Just tried a dummy buy miles and have a 100% bonus sitting there... haven't received anything about it via email though.

I have an email...it's a mystery promo - you have to log on and see how you've done! You either get 25, 50, 75 or 100% - 75 for me...no thanks!

Not much of a mystery really, maybe they are hoping people will log in to check and then when they are there decide spontaneously to buy? Can't really see any logic in making it "mystery" otherwise.

Blame the marketing department, who used it!

saves having to send out 3 different emails? And possibly getting those emails wrong?

Strange. First logged on and said 25% bonus, thought no thanks. Refreshed the page and it now says 100% bonus.

Time to buy.

Wonder if it gives you a different amount each time you check? ;)

I have tried a few times and always got 75% so far...will keep checking every so often though! Not really in the market for more miles at the moment mind you.

I don't understand this promo, give it a few weeks and probably it will revert to 100% bonus for everyone - as they will have no taker at anything less than 100% bonus.
It seems like they are trying to test how desperate the market is, and if we are prepared to buy at less than 100% with an eye to rising prices later.

It was a bit like a United promo earlier - where the more people who bought miles, the bigger the group discount became for everyone up to 40%.
It was widely panned as a cough promo, and then later they ran a very short promo for just the regular 40%.

I'm not really in the market for DM+75%. Having said that, and there are too many unknowns...I could be tempted by DM+75% if it later transferred to AA at 1:1...assuming 80k AA still buys a one way to Europe in F. I have enough DMs in the bank though to probably give this one a miss.

I got offered 100% bonus as well, but from what I read, because I bought at nearly every 100% bonus opportunity last year, I was targeted with the higher bonus offer.

Will definitely top up, but will wait for my next credit card billing cycle! These points purchases sure add up, I was scratching my head thinking where did all my money go

I'll be buying a small amount across all accounts offered 100% becuase yes it does appear that you are more likely to get the offers if you have previously purchased.

For those of you planning to book USDM redemptions this year but dont have the miles yet I would map out your travel plans very, very carefully so you know exactly how many miles you need when (ie when you will need to book).

I would not be expecting 100% bonuses on a monthly basis this year like there was last year (as already evidenced by this strange lottery offer).

No I'm not but I'm not expecting this year to be disastrous either, last year there were way more offers than I actually needed to take advantage of and given we are month 3 and I've already had 2 100% bonus offers can say I'm as concerned as some seem to be.! But I should note I have my travel plans in place so currently in replenish mode rather than desperate to get points for a planned redemption.

I would not mind if US slowed down a bit with their promotions ;) There's probably quite a bit of points floating around especially sitting in Australian based accounts and with increased points supply, it becomes harder to get those TG F 388 seats :( Yes I am eyeing those dates in September where I can't seem to get two seats in F :( :( :(

Well if its going to be hard getting TG F 388 seats it might be even worse for QF 388 F seats in the future for those who think they might be able to use these miles for 80,000 mile F redemptions once the merger happens with AA.... On another thread someone said how great it would be if AA offered a credit card down here, and i had thought this before and thought about suggesting it to them, but then thought if we already need to book 12 months out to get J to the US how bad would it be if AA introduced a credit card down here with bonus sign ons etc..

Similarly, when all these USDM account holders do become AA accounts and you have all those (i imagine) much bigger point totals suddenly in an alliance that has fewer airlines and what that will mean for redemptions to/from Australia in J and F... And whether any controls will be put on them???

Especially as far as seats on QF as BA will attract fuel fines, although perhaps with MH and QR coming in it might ease it a little......
