I would not mind if US slowed down a bit with their promotions ;) There's probably quite a bit of points floating around especially sitting in Australian based accounts and with increased points supply, it becomes harder to get those TG F 388 seats :( Yes I am eyeing those dates in September where I can't seem to get two seats in F :( :( :(

I booked my trip to Europe and then onto the states for July back in Sept. I snagged 2 x F to Bkk and then one seat in F with 1 in J to Fra - I've been checking regularly for another F seat to open up but haven't seen a thing! I presume Thai are a little more selective opening up F seats on the 380? I was hoping that they would open up another F seat once I had taken the
first one but alas no joy.

Think ill have to let the mrs have the F seat!

assuming 80k AA still buys a one way to Europe in F.

How much is AA J one way to Europe?
Just thinking QR here. I have had a few friends fly QR J and they have had only good things to say about them (if you can book QR on AA points that is, l'm not sure)....

FRA is very tricky....CDG on the other hand tends to have much better availability.

Yeah I have read that before but when I booked the seats CDG had no F. I think if I was flying into CDG in July I'd be worried about the a380 not being in service! Any info on that BC.? Wasn't it due this month?

It was originally due in Feb but I think now starts at the end of this month / beginning of April?

Well if its going to be hard getting TG F 388 seats it might be even worse for QF 388 F seats in the future for those who think they might be able to use these miles for 80,000 mile F redemptions once the merger happens with AA
...
Especially as far as seats on QF as BA will attract fuel fines, although perhaps with MH and QR coming in it might ease it a little......

I am a newbie when it comes to AA however I booked my first AAward today (for my boss). QF F SYD-xDXB-LHR 80K + $83 in taxes and then BA J/QF F CDG-xLHR-xDXB-SYD 80K + $201 in taxes :) There were quite a few awards on BA product but those taxes are like going to hurt the hip pocket.

I got the 75% bonus. Would have been nice 3 weeks ago.

May need some miles for Europe for 2 people next year but do not want to commit just yet. Wait and see what happens with AA before making decision.

According to one timeline I saw published you could be waiting a fair while, one estimate I saw (and this was based on hard evidence based on other recent mergers) had the regulatory authorities taking most of this year plus a minimum 6 months post that to merge FF programs.! I think I'll be taking offers but only the really good ones, a 100% bonus would be great and hence am buying small amounts for each 100% buy to keep in the game.

So is anyone giving much credance to the CEOs comments that the AA and US rewards programs will be aligned by third quarter this year?

Thai tweeted an hour ago the a380 on the BKK CDG route will be in service on the 31.3.2013.

I doubt they will have regulatory approval in this timeframe, don't know how much they would spend on system changes without this being in the bag. As for system migration, well we all know what their systems are like, I work in IT (Program Manager) and know 6 months is very agressive for a data migration on old legacy systems when no-one really knows what the system does and documentation on the systems/data is almost certainly poor.

If the status quo remains then I would consider buying the miles so dad and I can go to Greece next year in business.

I do not think that will be possible on Oneworld.
