Yes, however only one stopover.

Forgive my ignorance, when you say one stopover, for this this route: syd-bkk-nrt-sin-syd

I can only do, SYD-BKK, call BKK my destination (stay a week), then fly out to tokyo and stop here for a week and then fly from tokyo to singapore (can't stop here ? i.e. can only transit through and catch my sq flight to syd straight) ?

Cheers,
K.

You cannot just call whatever city you choose/like/want as your destination. The destination is always the furthest point from your starting point, in this case the dest. is Tokyo (well its slightly further away than BKK according to GCmap). Bangkok will be the stopover (if you want to stay for a week). And on the way back home, you correctly point out that you can only transit (<24hr) through SIN.

Apologies if this has come up before but how far out to business class flights get released?

In particular:

Singapore & Air NZ

There is very minimal SQ availble in Business and First from what I've seen. There was some F out of JFK but that's in the 747 not the A380. Where are you looking to fly?

I just re-checked all my searches and OZ F has disapeared again from ANA. Sometimes it appears..sometimes it doesn't.

I think with TG it's not hard to get. Is it impossible to get 3 J/F awards on any *A?

Never impossible, just damn well difficult. Especially 3 F seats, you better have some luck on your side, particularly on routes & flights which are already difficult to get seats.

There are no peculiar rules which say you can't have more than a certain number of premium seats per booking, so it all comes down to availability.

J can be done, for F extremely hard to find that much inventory, specially given that most F cabins have ~10 seats. especially if you are looking for F transatlantic.

Hard for three F. potentially hard for three J at the one time as well. I do have friends who snagged three 3...they completed the first reservation for two of them Australia through to Europe and back) and by the time they had done that one more seat appeared!

The other option is to book 2 F and one J, all on the same flight. you could swap around the seats on boarding so the J person got to ride in F for one sector. Just tell the crew you are doing this on boarding.

Final option, as TG has so many flights ex SD, you could arrange three F seats over two flights, and then again over the BKK-Eruope flights. It will get all three pax arriving within about 12 hours of each other.

Thanks for the info guys.

So I was thinking maybe book 2 J or F first and then later on book the other seat. Is it true that airlines won't release 3 at once, i.e. you can book 2 first and then maybe right after book the single award seat later or it doesn't work that way?

Routes I was thinking was SYD-BKK on TG

Thanks,
K.

A lot of what you are asking could be company policy but more often than not we are guessing / it's a hunch.

Whether a company will or won't allow 3 reward seats to be released, especially in F, is a guess at best. But hey, you could always try then tell us what happened :) Sometimes, some things aren't ironclad and are just luck.

My personal opinion is that no matter how you do it, the risk you are entailing in both cases will be the same. You'll either get those 3 seats you want or you won't. You'll probably have a far better chance in J rather than F, but that's just playing numbers.

Earlier this year I booked two F award seats SYD-BKK-CDG on TG. A while later another person decided to join in for the return portion of the trip and to my surprise there was another award seat available. From memory there were actually 2 further seats. That would mean 4 out of 8 F seats could be award seats.

Next year 4 of us are going to Europe so my strategy will be to find 2 F seats on each of two successive days and put these on hold. While these are on hold I will keep checking to see if any more seats open up on either day. If not we will complete the booking on the successive days and keep checking. If they become available then it will be $150 each change fee. If not the two who go first will have a night in an airport hotel.

The alternative is to do what friends with 2 children are planning - booking 2 F and 2 J (1 adult 1 child in each) on the same flights and then checking to see if 2 more seats open up in F. If so they will pay the change fee.

My attitude is whether you travel on separate days (with night in hotel), or 2 in F and 2 in J, or pay change fees for 2 persons it is still a great way to travel, but my mother always said I had "champagne taste on beer money". :)

Thanks for your tips :) By the way if we had to cancel the award tickets, what is the charge and will we get the miles back?

The idea of 2 different flights has worked really well for us when we are a group of four wanting champagne on the beer price. Mhen that will work out great.

so much of what you are asking is in the us airways membership guide... have you actually taken the time to read it? it would in fact take you less time to read it than to write and post your questions on here.

several pages back you asked for a link to the rules. people then help you out and I really don't understand why you make people help you and then don't have the courtesy to follow up?

it makes me, for one, feel a bit stupid that I helped you and am then ignored. :(

Just put on hold for 2 PAX.

Now I look at it... it seems illegal but nothing was said by the agent. Do you only find out legality once it goes to rates desk? Or also is there anyway to view it your dividend account while on hold? Not sure if the Agent was paying that much attention...:-|
