Just put on hold for 2 PAX.

F TG476 SYD-BKK-CDG - destination for 2 weeks

Now I look at it... it seems illegal but nothing was said by the agent. Do you only find out legality once it goes to rates desk? Or also is there anyway to view it your dividend account while on hold? Not sure if the Agent was paying that much attention...:-|

What is your taxes including booking fee per person?

Agent didn't provide this, said they will do it when I confirm booking.

yes the rate desk is the final arbiter in what is legal and what is not.

the rate desk will usually however agree with the agent as well if they (the agent) has made a prior decision to not allow something (probably because it is the agent that explains their side of the story to the rate desk not you!)

so you're 1/4 the way there... the agent didn't complain and I can't see it as not being legal. they might say the icn is unnecessary, or doesn't meet the most direct route rule. but it's not outside the realms of a good itinerary!

Agreed, the rates desk has the final say however FWIW I flew exactly the same segments just a month ago FRA-ICN-BKK-SYD.

Enjoy your flights hummel.

Thanks guys, looks like it a go-er. Do I just buy the last miles for both accounts now? Then ring, give confirmation number and seal the deal?

Alanslegal, who'd you fly ICN-BKK? There was OZ F available the other day but it's not available now.

If I fly in J or F with my child I have access to the first and business class lounges. Now if my
Wife and second child fly on the same flIghts but in economy can I have them as guest into the first and business lounges ?

If not then can I purchased the star alliance preferred gold membership and then they can have access !

all star alliance airlines only allow first class passengers to take one guest.

it may vary airline by airline how they treat children and whether this children count as guests.

I would suggest visiting flyertalk, and if a search turns up nothing, post in the STAR ALLIANCE forum. clearly state the airline you are going to be flying, and ask for advice on the policy for lounge access with children (whether they count as guests). your two year old will be fine (not counted). not sure about the 4 years old.

star alliance gold only entitles access to business class lounges, not first class. so there is nothing to be gained by having star gold purchased membership over the basic business class ticket.

But if I buy 2 J or F seats for myself and 4yr old then wife and 2yr in economy I can invite wife as guest and 4yr old invite 2yr if need be. If I can't invite anyone then my wife purchases gold status trial for 3 months and has access as well?

if you only buy 2 business class then NO guests are permitted. business class cannot invite guests.

buy first class and each first class take take in one guest.

the cost of the star gold status would seem to be more than just buying a business class ticket would it not?? (that is, the difference to buy biz class mileage from economy is not that much more.. I thought buying preferred was quite expensive?)

Buying gold preferred status $400 for 3 months trial. I would prefer to buy J for all passengers but no availability . The best would be buy two F for myself and daughter then invite the rest of family into F lOunges .

Again availability is a problem for F after BKK to Europe and Europe to US And US backgo SYD lucky to find J. Alot of airlines dropping F

Maybe the gold preferred trial worth it and possible uPgrade my wife to J if available

Just rang US Airways to make a one change to my internary.

Quick question... under Cabin it says the below.

Unknown (O)

'O' means first class correct? and 'I' means business?

In response to my own question, I looked it up on Expert Flyer and confirmed what I thought.

I have posted on FT as well but maybe some of you don't read that but was quoted $356.96 USD per ticket for taxes.

Itnerary SYD-BKK-CDG-FRA-ICN-BKK in F

Seemed high to me? will pay it I have to but after a second opinion.

Second opinion ?
I think "O" is first class.
I also have more legs then you 10 in total flying to Europe and US and taxes are $250.30 plus $50 for booking fee $300 all in

You are going to fly F whilst the wife is stuck in the cramped confines of economy?! If you read a lot of the posts on these forums re: cabin etiquette, the wife (aka SWMBO which reads as Someone Who Must Be Obeyed) ALWAYS gets the better seat.

PS. I am not married but my girlfriend always gets the better seat :(

Alanslegal, who'd you fly ICN-BKK? There was OZ F available the other day but it's not available now.

I flew TG Y unfortunately. I needed a specific flight / time and Y was only available even up to the last minute (which I came on this thread too) and asked someone to kindly check for availability whilst I was overseas.

Seems high to me, even my AMS-FRA-ICN-BKK-SYD-BKK-ICN-FRA-AMS came out to be $220.xx or so.

What are your total points costs per person for this itinerary?

SYD to Europe 150k mules plus $300 approx in tax per person

Thanks

So that's 150k miles purchased from US Airways, using a Star Alliance partner from SYD eg TG. And I have to book through US Airways in Oz or USA?

Or could I use the 230k points earned on my SQ Kris credit card for same flight and class with TG? Booked through SQ?

I thought all *A airlines used the same award chart? Obviously not!

Sorry to be such a NB

Shayne

Are you saying you have an award ticket booked with 10 travel segments? I thought someone said here it was limited to 8 segments??? Or does a segment include more than 1 flight if they have the same flight number???

Thanks

You can't use krispyflyer here you have to purchase from us airways . Theres a promo on ends in a few days If you haven't registered it's too late register now and wait for the next promo . Then you call us airways in the US there's a Skype number floating around have a look back thru the last 10 pages I can't on iPhone .

Also the limit is 8 segments depends if you get an easy going agent and avoid the rate desk. When booking my advice is say leg by leg and then hope it gives you the taxes. The agent will say oh the compute is thinking tell her you can wait because if she/he puts you on hold then goes rate desk it's goodnight .

This is really bad advice! ALL tickets have to go through the rate desk to get ticketed. Follow the rules of the program and you will avoid any problems in the future, it just isn't worth the risk IMHO.
