Australia . It's too risky hiring overseas they require your cc number and other details. I didn't do a no show I sat in the car put on the a/c then went back inside closed the rental and left came back the next day .

Best car rental deal i could find on the rental companies website was $35 a day for some piddly little car, was it Thrifty etc??? Decided not to... Ok i got to try and rack up a few hits today... Time to go back and look at some of Shayne's suggested easy ones..

A cheap one to use for the toolbar shopping mall hit is Target (people reckon the cheapest is itunes but the itunes purchase didnt work for me).

Anyway you can log onto Target (USA) through the toolbar and purchase a $5 gift certificate.

The good news is that you dont need a physical address in the USA to ship it to (they can ship to email!) and they take overseas credit cards.

A nice easy way to get a hit.

Through the skymall i have found these crayons which i think can be picked up in store, probably just go for that if you say itunes doesn't work

Office Depot - Crayola(R) Standard Crayon Set, Assorted Colors, Box Of 24
$2.19 | 0.5 Miles per $1

Hmm, somehow even manged to get them down to

plus $0.07 tax...

ok, i thoiught it would work but they wanted the address i put in to match the billing address of my credit card for some reason... ok, keep looking...

I got three account to 16 fairly easy . Going for 28 is a headache but factor in the price of miles now since the price rise. And I don't think there will be any buying bonuses for a while is worth it. The last 4hits from 24 to 28 for 15k to buy looking at just under $600 even with a bonus buying period still $300 .

Isn't anyone else playing ? If so how you doing :)

20 Hits for me, 16 for the family (*3), so 110K all up. Actually not that hard really so I wish I had been more serious about it now, as you know the 24 to 28 and 28-32 are very good leaps worth aiming for and it's been easier than I expected in the end. Found a car rental for $33 somewhat late in the piece and with some of the no-show hotel stays could have got to 28 and possibly even 32 if I'd been more organised. PLanning for next year already!

So now My wifes parents want to go to europe the same time as my family. Departing SYD desination ZAG . They want to travel in F and both drink so will make the most of it. I checked availability and of course TG showed up. But from BKK I'm trying to think which routing they would get the most out of the trip. They did mention they wanted to go to Slovenia not sure if they want to atop over there but not being a hub will take 20 phone calls and I'm not in the mood for that. I was thinking
SYD-BKK-FRA-ZAG
ZAG-FRA-ICN-SYD

So they get to use the F spa in BKK . Now the FRA-ZAG leg only has J on the aircraft and I want them to have access the the FCT. WIll that be allowed? Arriving on TG in F and departing J on OZ.
On the return FRA-ICN-SYD hopefully suites depending on the aircraft. But at the end of the day they only want to go SYD ZAG return they are 60 so which routing would you take and why?

Thanks guys

Arriving TG F and departing LH J (BKK-FRA-ZAG) they will only have access to the Senator Lounge at best, and possibly maybe only the business class lounge (at worst).

The business class lounge used to be pretty drab and awful. The Senator lounge (by virtue of their incoming F class flight if they can argue it) is also used by star gold.

Check out the thread on FT (LH forum) where there is a huge discussion on FCT and FCL (first class lounge) access and where the cars will take you.

It simply makes no sense to rute via ICN in J if they are on an F ticket.

i would do a SYD-BKK-FRA-ZAG and return routing, all in F on whichever airline you can manage. If that is TG all the way then so be it. But you could also try for LH F via FRA or MUC on the way back into BKK before picking up TG F back to SYD. Departing FRA or MUC is on LH is the only way to guarantee First Class lounge access in FRA/MUC.

Flying SYD-BKK-FRA - will get buggy and spa in BKK
FRA-ZAG - business class lounge (maybe senator if they can swing it)

ZAG-FRA/MUC-BKK on LH F will get FCT

BKK-SYD in TG F will get buggy at BKK departure.

If they won't get access to FCL in FRA departin in J and arriving in F I would go a different route. Maybe SYD BKK CDG ZAG all on TG until CDG Then OZ onto ZAG . Returing ZAG FRA BKK SYD .The question is how is the availability of LH out of FRA to BKK I think that will be tough

Hi Shayne,

Yes I just booked a trip and couldnt get F out of FRA on LH so as I wanted to go F not J and I didnt want to go back via TG I went F on LH to ICn then Bus from ICN to BKK, F from BKK to SYD on TG :) I get First terminal in FRA that way:)

they do not get access to the FCL because they are arriving on Thai first class.

the only people with access to the FCL are those departing on LH or LX in first, or HON frequent flyer members.

if you can fly them our of Bangkok on LH then they will have the FCL in FRA.

but you then lose the buggy transfers in Bangkok. IMO I would take the FCL any day over the massage in the Thai spa... meaning LH ex bkk rather than TG.

How dare you go on that route just to access the lounge who would want to spend an extra 9 hours in the air just for a better seat and lounge access !

;)

Thanks I will give that a shot We have alot in common

LOL I get free access to the hotel with LH first from FRA

What hotel ! I'm Flying on LH F actually my wife is and I'm her guest flying from FRA-YYZ . We have about a 4 hour layover in Frankfurt .

I'm pretty sure because she is flying and one child in F and I'm in Y she can guests us into the FCT . Never heard of a hotel there

Look at LH first site, its an off site hotel that they let you day use, pool room and bed:) They take you from FCT and back. I have a 7 hour wait so intend to go for a swim and a nap

If I was in my 60's I would want to take the most direct routing, I would not care if it was First Class. But I'm around half that age and going the long way, well, that's the game I (and most of us) play in terms of being frequent flyers (and earning/maximising our benefits).

I booked Syd-Bkk-Lhr return (with a stopover in Bkk on the inbound) in TG F for my parents. I could not persuade them to fly via Fra or any other indirect routing:p. All up, it cost about AUD$2.7K each (including the hefty Lhr departure tax) cf to the $2.6K each Qf wanted for the same trip in Y:shock:. They are quite happy....I'm still playing around with my and +1 itinerary atm;)

**warning**

Seems TG is playing with the aircraft type between SYD <> BKK. Many dates between Dec and Mar are now 747 instead of A346...over on FT some have said that some flights are now scheduled on the dreaded 7442!

Check seat maps carefully!!

Edit: just found one checking random dates - TG476 06 Mar shows 14 seats in F!! Eeek!

actually for me not such a bad thing... the seats are still completely horizontal, and nothing quite compares to the nose of a 747 for First class - spacious and exclusive.
