actually for me not such a bad thing... the seats are still completely horizontal, and nothing quite compares to the nose of a 747 for First class - spacious and exclusive.

Yeah I agree, the F would be OK, especially if travelling with someone...but the J? No thanks!

With F fares only costing 25% more miles than J fares to Europe then I reckon you may as well travel F on these award tickets if you can find availability.

im flying F and family in J in may 2012. I wouldnt worry about the aircraft type most airlines change planes all the time. Everytime i log into my us airways account there is a scheduled change i have to accept.

**warning**

Seems TG is playing with the aircraft type between SYD <> BKK. Many dates between Dec and Mar are now 747 instead of A346...over on FT some have said that some flights are now scheduled on the dreaded 7442!

Check seat maps carefully!!

Edit: just found one checking random dates - TG476 06 Mar shows 14 seats in F!! Eeek!

Thanks for the heads up although I'm not flying till July so hopefully its all back to normal by then.

Just after a little advice here guys..

My current route home from Europe is FRA-ICN (LH F) ICN-BKK (TG C) BKK-SYD (TG F)

I've just had a squiz useing the ANA tool and OZ F comes up on the dates I want, allowing me to bypass BKK and go direct to SYD.

Worth the $150 fee per person? I'm thinking it is, and the timing works a little better.

The only trouble im having is ANA showing it availability consistently, at the moment it has RQ. Does this mean USAir will see it?

I'd say typically that means US won't see it - has previously been the case when TG showed RQ.

Try some other booking engines and see what they say e.g. Aeroplan & Continental.

When I use ANA, if it shows as RQ on a certain date I would click the next day button, then click the previous day button to refresh the screen and it will sometimes go to - or OK. If it says OK, I'd give US a call .... but alot of times, it refreshes to -

Same experience here. Will just keep looking periodically and see how I go.

WHy don't you join expert flyer and it alerts you when they seats you want are available instead of checking every day?

I'm searching for parents in law they want
To go to europe via Hawaii . NZ doesn't show any J onwards from
Akl is there any other airline I can use ?
When I make the call to the US will this be a valid routing

I just got alerted to this thread. WOW. What a great way to fly F to Europe for the cost of a QF Y bucket.

Just join US Airways Dividend Miles program (How often do the promo's run?)

Looking at flying to Europe (Berlin or Budapest) next year, what would be my best option;

SYD-BKK (TG F)
BKK-FRA (TG F)
Then a separate ticket to TXL (Berlin)

or

SYD-SIN (SG)
SIN-ZRH (LH/LX?)
Then a separate ticket to BUD (Budapest)

No it won't be valid.

From the T&Cs...

Award travel is permitted when the distance in one direction does not exceed the maximum mileage allowed between the origin and destination. Certain itineraries are subject to mileage restrictions. Travel from North America to Europe is not allowed via Asia. Travel between Europe and Japan/North Asia/South Asia/Australia/New Zealand is not permitted via North America.

...to get from HNL to Europe you'd have to go via N America.

I read those T&Cs yesterday and read that bit about not exceeding the maximum mileage limit but couldn't find what the actual figure was... Was looking in the context of whether i could fly QR from Perth to Middle East somewhere next year when they start flying out of Perth, and then take a stopover from Doha to Miami (or Houston/JFK where they fly direct too) or at least ME then to the US and then come back through Doha and back to Perth although that might trigger some next leg longer than the first leg thing... Is this also considered a 'long sell' which seems to be the term for flying to Europe and then taking a stop over to the US???

And Oneworldplus2, from my understanding you can have 8 segments which would allow you to fly all the way to Berlin.. If you don't have an open jaw for that trip you can then also take a stop over in another European city or another *A hub outside of Europe, but a few guys here are the experts on this and what is and isn't allowed, Shayne2233 seems very good at coming up with the most creative possible itineraries... :p

Awards on QR are not available. Although the chart says temporarily I think it's been a loooooooong time. I think QR rewards may also have been in Y only.

A long sell is basically just manually requesting a seat if it doesn't automatically show as available - nothing to do with the route.

Thank you for the swift reply casanovawa.

Oh I just assumed (incorrectly it seems) that they did. Their F product look amazing!

OZ seats are so so in terms of industry leaders, but their service is amazing.

I think if you saw F icn-syd it might have been when you saw RQ? that is not a reflection F is available unfortunately.

Yes thats correct. Looks like I'll just slum it in C/J for 7 hours ICN-BKK... and then F BKK-SYD :)
