try seatguru

Seatguru doesn't even recognise that TG has the 77W (777-300ER). It has 777-300 but even then the seatmap and description is inaccurate.

A quick search of the TG forum on Flyertalk would probably yield the answer / opinions.

it's a bit of a difficult issue for shanye... he is traveling wi his wife and children, with the wife in a lower class of service.

for the a340 I would recommend row 2 in first class, then row 11 in business, so that shanye can help his wife during meal times etc (looking after the infant).

the downside is that the wife will see all the perks her husband is getting and may feel a bit of resentment!!

on the 777 it is all suites, separated from business class by a door. I would recommend taking a suite in the very last row of first class so communication with the wife is easier. she will not be allowed to enter the first class cabin, but it is much easier for the crew to get you and you go back through the curtain to see your wife.

Has that been a recent change? On FT shanye said his Wife and child were in first, with him and the other child being in Y/J.....

Thanks. Guys.

Shane is in F for SYD BKK CDG . Then in Y FRA YYZ LAX. Wife is in F on those legs FRA YYZ and J YYZ LAX.

How many miles did you use for each of your tickets?? When you say ur wife is in F for FRA-YYZ that is taking your seat? Otherwise i would have put the biz and economy seats on one ticket and all the F on the other...

No wife and daughter taking their seat in F on LH FRA-YYZ I am currently in Y with second daughter on the same flight who is on a J ticket. I am on a award F ticket 140k miles. Hopefully more award seats open closer to departure and we can move into J .

I'm just asking how much EACH of you paid. so it looks like you and wife on 140k miles each, and one daughter on 110k miles (biz class) and then the other child?

Can someone tell me what the current situation is with LH availability?

I just need to get back from CDG or FCO to OZ but I can't seem to find any TG availability ex-CDG or FCO for the first two weeks of October. The easiest option available is CDG/FCO via FRA with LH. [I am only looking at J class at this stage].

Continental shows F available on TG945 (FCO-BKK) on 1,3,8,10 October.

Otherwise LH J is not restricted...only F.

6th Oct OZ601 ICN 20:30-SYD 08:40+1 // Also OZ365 ICN 14:00-PVG 15:00, CA175 PVG 19:35- SYD 09:10+1

Cheers for looking, but I am just after J at this stage.

Also thanks for looking. Its a bit of a detour but I might have to look into the above routes again. A few months back I flew AMS-FRA-ICN-BKK-SYD but after all that flying, I prefer to get to my destination as quickly as possible. Its just strange or for whatever reason that I can't seem to find any J seats on TG ex-CDG or ex-FCO to BKK, then onto SYD ... well for the first two weeks of October anyway.

Would PER, MRU and CDG be allowed in one redemption?

Folks,

Our object is to redeem US miles on a *A award in J, flying to both Mauritius and France with an itinerary looking something like:

PER-JNB-MRU [STOP]
MRU-JNB-xx_-CDG [DEST]
CDG-BKK-PER

I assume that this routing, if allowed, would be charged at the South Pacific-Africa rate of 130,000 miles. However, will it be allowed? A lack of published rules has me pondering several points:
  • Is routing via Africa a valid way of getting to Europe if charged at the 130K rate?
  • As MRU is not an SA hub is it valid for a stopover, or only as a destination?
  • If MRU can only be a destination, can CDG be a stopover? And might the itinerary have to be reversed? Or is that a bridge way too far?
  • Despite SA ex-JNB being the only *A route to MRU, would JNB-MRU-JNB where MRU is a stopover infringe some rule about backtracking?
I guess that Plan B might involve us using QF points or AA miles or <shudder!> cash for nested JNB-MRU-JNB flights, but do any redeemers more grizzled than I have any thoughts/comments/suggestions/experiences to offer? Might it all come down to the luck of the draw and the geographic knowledge of the agent on the day? :(

Many thanks - in advance,
arraitch

Theres currently TG availability from ZRH and MUC on the 3rd October, connecting with both TG services from BKK to SYD on the 4th - LX and LH have availability from CDG to their respective hubs, it does seem strange normally TG is the easiest to get redemptions from seems a little strange they are all booked out
