Wow, OZ F is very impressive! I will rate it as good as CX F ans SQ F! Better than QF F. We had an awesome crew of 4 who were super attentive and full of smiles :) You will have a very good experience with OZ and I might post a more detailed review when I get back home.

28 hours since leaving my apartment in Sydney I am currently at ICN and half way to Europe. The 7.5hr transit in BKK yesterday allowed me to leave my carry-ons at the Royal First Lounge and then sneak out to Bangkok city, where I spent the later afternoon at Terminal 21 shopping mall, had an aromatherapy massage and then back to the airport. Later on the red-eye to ICN was 4h 35minutes and I am feeling the effects of the prolonged travel period. I have flown a few indirect flights in the past (MNL-HKG-BKK-SYD instead of MNL-SYD for example) and and the routing SYD-BKK-ICN-FRA-AMS, which at the time of booking was a cool idea, is now something I wish I should have not done. 28hrs so far + 3hrs more in my current ICN OZ F Lounge + 13hrs FRA-AMS + 4hrs FRA transit + 1.5hrs FRA-AMS + travel to the hotel (say 0.5hrs) = 50 hours of travel time. Ouch! :-|

Stopping in London at all? If so, drop me a PM!

Yep I have found them and will be visiting them soon, with a few packets of Hagen Daz ice cream to cool my taste buds :D

And that's where I agree to all your points. The idea to maximise one's routing sounds good and/or fun in theory but then when the day comes to actual flying, those extra hours inside a plane, waiting for the plane, worrying about how much more food one can stuff in their stomach, is not worth it. It might be a good idea for the first time flyer to experience it all but a regular flyer won't find that excitement or buzz anymore, and maybe I'm falling into the latter category.

I know how you feel. I've only just started doing "regular" J trips for work, and I'm already over it!

Excellent connection times are part of the puzzle and it causes us to take particular flights in and out of Singapore. There are some very unfriendly connections that your body will notice if you don't pay attention.

Must admit I don't mind a bit of a break to and from Europe, but I guess everyone is different. For me this helps the jetlag but guess everyone is not the same.

Good to hear positives about OZ F. I'm currently planning a similar trip to Europe and hoping to find a flight via ICN.

Daniel, I won't be popping by London on this trip but I have a couple more trips to Europe-way later in the year (late July and late November) so I'll give ya a yell when I'm there, hopefully you'll be around too and not on your many work jaunts away ;)

my flights are coming up soon and i have a Y leg YYZ to LAX. I booked a F ticket but dont want to call them and rattle the cage , so how can i get upgraded at the gate or check in? What do i need with AC status or *A status or what about a AC SWU certificate ?

I'll be flying Asiana J from ICN to JFK in May. Are they flying the 777 on that route yet?

I could be wrong but I don't think reward seats can be upgraded. Certainly not with s SWU.

It might be that upgrades based on status are possible. But then you would need to be pretty high up in terms of the upgrade waitlist.

If you check the Air Canada website they will explain the upgrade process and which passengers are eligible to upgrade.

YYZ-LAX is just a short hop so you might have to suck it in in Y even though you're paying F awards. If I recall correctly, you had 11 segments / quasi-RTW type itinerary so best to not rattle the cage so to speak especially at this late notice.

Awesome ! That's the info I like to hear.

Got this email as well. Just a question on it though, I currently have 50K in points in my account and 50K in the Mrs account.

If I share my 50K with the wife then with the promo she should get 50K + 25K bonus at a cost of $500 for sharing + $30 fee + 7.5% tax making it $567.50

Can she then share 50K of her points back to me?

Looking at the numbers though the bonus 100% buy option is better?

yes. Doing it this way is 2.3c per mile, through 100% bonus schemes it costs 1.9c per mile (both including the 7.5% tax).

However... you never know if being part of this promo will get you entry into the next promo!! (skip this one and they may not target you)

Thanks MEL_Traveller. Any idea if 2 accounts sharing I mentioned in my post is possible? Can't see anything in the T&C's to state otherwise

Wow I've been watching this thread for over a year and I've never heard that before. I thought all bonuses were offered to all?
