Thanks JCB12. Very helpful. Did they offer you a bassinet for the Baby at all? O/H is freaking out about the baby being on the lap for 24 hours and thinks economy would offer a bassinet option.
We flew on Thai and as far as I know there are no bassinets in First at all - my son was 18 months when we flew, so he wouldn't have fit in it anyway. I believe there are bassinets in Business and generally they're allocated at check in to the youngest infants on the flight - this applies across all classes.

You'd have to check the seat maps for each airline to see what bassinets are available in which cabins.

Thanks. I am thinking if it is possible to fly from north asia to US with the route connecting via BKK and europe, it seems more availability in first. eg. north asia -> BKK-> europe ->US-> north asia. Would they think that this is a round-the-world ticket? or would I have to route back via europe. Thanks in advance! =)

have a look at the star alliance booking tool. if your chosen routing doesn't go via bkk then you may have a problem.

from north Asia there is good availability on Swiss ex PEK.

Called up US Airways to book

SYD-BKK (good)
BKK-FRA (good)
FRA-BUD (hit a snag)
and return same legs.

Was told that l can't do the FRA-BUD sector because it's going 'backwards' and that Star Alliance won't allow it, as it's 'zig-zagging' (quote from US agent).
I was told that l have to go West (or East) all the way to my destination to a point, then return.

Was the agent wrong?

yeah - the agent was wrong. I would call again. The star alliance booking tool clearly lists FRA (along with MUC/ATH/IST and ZRH) as connecting points to BUD.

If they persist on not giving you that routing then you could try OS via VIE.

Thank you MEL_Traveller.

I'll call again. I got through in about 5 minutes.

(Edit - Called back and got a agent who pushed it through in 10 minutes)

Thanks to this thread I am going to be joining US dividend miles - does anyone have a promotion code for the application (do I need one - there is a space for it and would hate to miss out on something)

Guys quick q - For those who purchased the miles on the current bonus offering and didn't have a points.com account, did you purchase the miles first and then sign up to points.com or vice versa? Personally I don't think it matters but from reading the blurb it does say buy miles first and then open account so just seeking clarification on whether its the opening of a points.com account or whether its the registration of the Dividend Miles number after the purchase:

Buy miles March 15 - April 15, 2012 and enjoy a 50% bonus. Then, register your Dividend Miles account with Points.com and earn another 50% bonus – up to 50,000 miles in all.

Open to everyone.
Just join and buy miles, you'll get the 50% bonus and if you sign up to points.com, you'll get the other 50% bonus.

I signed up to points.com + put my US Airways number into points.com. Then purchased miles.

None of my 'bonus 50%' from points.com have turned up. MEL_traveller had a date earlier in this thread regarding the bonus miles posting into the account.

Thanks Oneworldplus2 oh and well done on your successful booking I saw in the other thread :)

I've got the F suite on the way to Paris and Mrs Diddy is very much looking forward to it.

Read the T&Cs. They clearly state that the 50% bonus from points.com registration will post in the first week of JUNE.

I suspect it doesn't really matter when you join points.com, as long as it is before the end of the promotion (hence why they only post the points well after the promo has finished). However - to be on the safe side, I would register first, buy later :)

The bonus points, from points.com, l wasn't counting on to make my booking, so l didn't read the T&C's and I'm not fussed when they decide to turn up...

I showed my son your post and it impressed him very much.
You may not be able to go back once you go Suites and it is pretty good seeing you are studying this year.

Cove,

I know you harvest points like oxygen but surely you've been keen to jump on the US Airways band wagon? Or are you too much a fan of OW to make the frist step? :D

I have been reading this thread for my friends who want to travel the world in J or better but are retiring shortly so the making of points are limited. For me this would be Plan D but it would be Plan C for my sons.
It is a great deal as it can be J or F for Y price!

Slow down Tiger ;) We don't need to tell the whole world how good these deals are. We don't need to persuade those pessimists too. If someone doesn't believe they are good deals that really are bookable, I am not going to go out of my way to persuade them otherwise. After all, these fares are getting more expensive (up 25% in the past 12 months), becoming more restrictive to access (difficulty with LH F, LX F and TATL F), and the more and more John and Jane's who keep on jumping on these deals will make it more harder for all of us here in the future. There is enough information here and plenty of booking data to show that these deals do exists and people have flown around all parts of the world thanks to US DM.

For anyone reading this thread and having doubts about jumping in and using US Airways, have a look at this.

I went to bestflights.com.au and searched for flights on the same dates. Cheapest option below...

I paid just a touch more, and get to fly F/J.
No brainer...

So, my wife has a booking SYD-YVR-YUL//YUL-ORD-ICN-SYD. When she went to log into dividend miles to look up the booking, it said there was a change, and that she had to call reservations. Upon calling she was old that the ORD-ICN flight was cancelled, and she was moved to the next day. Now, there are a couple of strange things:

1. ANA still shows the flight as flying, but no availability
2. When logging into AC with the AC reservation number, the flight has now changed to be ORD-LAX-SYD (with the LAX-SYD leg in X).
3. When we log into United, it still shows the old (original) routing/dates

So, my question - is there anywhere we can login to see what she is actually now ticketed on (can we use checkmytrip or something)? Should we trust what US are telling us even though that doesn't match anything we are seeing anywhere else?

Thanks!
