If FJ is out I can't even get SYD - NAN even... unless JQ, which doesn't really appeal. I just want lock something in to make good use of the 30K miles before devaluation.

My apologies - I misread NAN for NOU... where you could fly provided you take the QF operated flight (not the QF flight number on the AirCalin flight)

JQ is also not a partner airline for USDM - so there's no award space on there.

Just for a moment I thought I had a bright idea.

So, AKL is OK if QF J available, anything else maybe?

Sometimes yes ie: Stop over in Asia is allowed on the way to the EU, and often (though not always) a stop in Asia going to the US is also allowed. It depends on many factors, sometime which it is quite unclear why/why not...

Yeah. Thought as much. Just wanted to ask whether anyone had first hand experiences on actually getting one or would it be one of those HUPCA situations. I was considering HKG-BKK-DOH-LHR/CDG-(whatever EU that I can get CX space on)-HKG. I wanted to see if I could get a stopover in DOH but then again sounds kinda unlikely...

That should be fine. You are allowed only one stop over OR open jaw. So as long as you are returning from LHR if landing at LHR or CDG if landing in CDG, then there shouldnt be a problem... I can't be 100% sure, others might have more experience but I would think that it should be fine.

Yes you can have a stopover in Doha, it's completely within the rules

Ah yep. Totally for got about the stopover/open-jaw rule. CDG will probably be the choice so I can avoid the UKADP.

Any of the resident route masters have any suggestions as to how I could get a stop in CAI with some minor adjustments in my routing? With USDM, the only routing that I think would be allowed would be HKG-BKK-DOH-CAI(stop)-LHR(dest)-HKG. Any other way would be considered backtracking..

Unless CAI is a US Airways destination city, a stopover won't be allowed as it's not a oneworld hub.

Royal Jordanian fly to Cairo. You could swap Qatar for them (though I'd personally never do it as there's a huge gap in terms of product quality) and fly from Hong Kong to Cairo (stopover) then on to Amman then on to Europe. This will have a minimum backtracking and should be ok. You'll also have to cut one sector from the outbound journey and do a HKG - DOH/AMM direct or you'll exceed the max number of sectors per journey

Unless you get a sympathetic or stupid agent who'll allow it. My partner is having a stopover in Vienna next year on the way back to Australia from London -:) took 2 phone calls to persuade them

Anyone have any luck booking Palau with USDM?

I haven't checked, but my guess is that award tickets are not available on JL charter flights to ROR, except to JL members.

AND...any route to ROR is going to exceed 25M.

yea ROR is out of the question, i managed to book GUM but with overnight in HKG and overnight in NRT but no proper stopover

Hi All, I'll admit to be being a little lazy on this one as I have only done about a hour or so of my own research US Airways is completely new to me. Can anyone assist with points/tax/surcharge costs for a Qantas PE or J booking from Sydney to Haneda return using US Dividend miles. Any thoughts on whether it's worth buying them for this redemption? There is currently availability on the Qantas website for dates required. No issues with JAP either if anyone has any info. Many Thanks

$150 or so? USDM doesn't charge fuel surcharges for qantas flights. so it's actual taxes and airport/security fees only.

PE awards aren't available through USDM. but if it was, the pricing (between economy and business) would be such that it would probably more cost effective to buy a jetstar business class ticket for cash when they have their next sale.

JAL first class is pretty wide open until end of March or whenever. I'd take them if it's in your time frame.
