US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

I got J on the SQ A380 both ways SIN-LHR with BMI. Could only get SIN-MEL on 773 from UA. However I just tried a couple of dummy bookings SIN-LAX in Feb next year on the UA website (looking for the all J A345) none on the A345, but plenty of J availability on the A380. The return LAX-SIN wasn't available at all on SQ - only UA direct or OZ via ICN.

I spent hours and hours on the internet planning available routes and about 50 minutes on the phone last night to book the following for myself and my daughter ...

SYD-BKK-CDG (TG F)
CDG-VIE (OS Y) Stopover
VIE-FRA (OS J)
FRA-ORD (UA J) Destination
ORD-LAX (UA J)
LAX-ICN (OZ F)
ICN-BKK (TG J)
BKK-SYD (TG F)

140,000 miles pp
US$335.89 taxes and processing fee

I was unsure whether US would allow 5 sectors to the US but there was no problem. We will have to slum it in Y on the CDG-VIE flight as there was no availability in J but it is only a 2 hour flight so I'm not too worried. As the flights are for just after Christmas I had to do some juggling and we have quite a few overnights (<24hrs) on the trip.

I booked Hilton Vienna for NYE - going rate for the cheapest room is 499 euro but I was able to use 40,000 HHonors points which I think is a bargain.

Overall you've done pretty well:!: :) Would've been nice if you got some sort of F across the Atlantic, even if it was UA F (that said, the other 3 options - SQ, LX and LH - would've been as rare as hen's teeth). And even then, I would've tried really hard for LX J instead :)

Yes indeed! Well done! (Getting any room let alone at rack rate is doing very well at NYE)

Your daughter and you will definitely enjoy this trip!

Great redemption Fi. There is nothing wrong with TG F and those cities you are visiting are lots of fun. Enjoy the caviar and Dom as well as the lounge and spa at BKK. As an extra hint. Order the Pad Thai with Lobster ex-BKK and ask the FA to serve it for breakfast. It's the best use of the menu and very, very tasty.

There was nothing available with LX or LH - I looked at all possible routes over various days but to no avail. UA only had J but it looks like I am on the aircraft with the backwards facing J seats - I'll have to look into it further so I can choose our seats wisely.

I'm looking forward to F on the BKK-CDG flight and F on OZ. We are planning quite a few hours in the BKK F lounge each way to enjoy the amenities. Thanks for the dining tip - great idea!

Great booking Fi!
Christina and I are really excited for you and your daughter!
That hotel booking in Vienna is such a great bargain!

Christina and I are departing for our Europe and New York trip in early October! I'll make sure that I keep in touch with any tips that we find out as well!

We are doing F BKK-ZRH TG and F JFK-ICN OZ which is very similar to yours!

Thank you Pumbaa - we are really excited.
I'll be really interested to hear about your trip - enjoy those F products.
(I'm also allowing lots of time to luxuriate in the F lounge at BKK both ways :D). My daughter is intrigued by the whole first class thing - I think I've made a monster!

Good one Fifi.
I did shorter, OZ-Europe (return) in F and was charged 150k miles.

For an AU-EU return, that looks right. I still think it's amazing you can do AU-EU(stop)-US return in J/F and still be charged less than doing an AU-EU. Hopefully using it for my parents to do exactly that, with a 1-2 week stopover in EU to visit yours truly!

Just arrived back from SYD-BKK-FRA-PRA Stop AMS-FRA-ICN-SIN-BKK-SYD in First and it was fantastic! SQ First was by far the best, Thai Ground services were unbelievable, out of the airport in 5 mins flat with buggy VIP iimigration and porters. LH FCT was amazing, got plenty of ducks but just missed out on olympic duck lol. The trip to the plane in the S Class Merc was very nice! Can you get sick of caviar and Dom? lol
Thanks for everyones help here! Much appreciated!

Welcome home, sounds like you had a ball!

I've just got around to getting our pictures up on FB!

FWIW, we received 3 Olympic ducks... very lucky as we arrived at the FCT on the day of their release :)

Nice one!!

Just a quick question, just for my reference and to keep things up to date with flight researching, 1) which airline program did you search with? and 2) did all the flights you see online, correspond with the flights available when you rang up US?

Thanks in advance and no doubt you will have a blast on this trip!!

I had been using ANA and Aeroplan but gave up on them as they are sooooooo slow.
Now I use AwardTravelr - Searching across all possibilities to make your frequent flyer miles work for you, as it is easy and quick and showed the same availability as the other two. (I searched by sector)
Yes, all flights were available when I phoned US Airways and it was quite easy just quoting dates and flight numbers. The operator seemed quite surprised that I knew the availability of each flight.

I should have booked the previous week instead of procrastinating though, as J disappeared on the CDG-VIE sector and LH J was available from FRA-BOS which I would have preferred over UA to ORD. (We're ducking down to SJU for 5 nights and the AA YUP fares are cheaper from BOS). Oh, well, you live and learn ;)

im pretty sure you get flat beds on UA J on the 767... they'll be much better then the LH offering of angled lie flats. LH catering is better though.

out of interest, SDF to SJU is $365 for a YUP, via dfw and mia for total of 240 SCs each way. sdf is Louisville Kentucky, you can pick up AA eagle connection ORD to SDF for $60 each way, single class ERJ. not sure if that helps.

Due to changed circumstances I had to cancel an earlier booking for my fiancee. I tried to do it as a change, but hit the 12 month validity limit on the ticket, but in the end the marginal cost due to that should only be USD40 booking fee as the change fee and redeposit fee are the same, so no big drama.

New booking is for May/June 2013, all in J class: MEL-(TG)-BKK-(TG A380)-FRA-(LH)-CPH, then back CDG-(TG A380)-BKK-(TG)-MEL
I am looking forward to trying out the Thai A380. It looks as though the seats we were auto-allocated are ideal for a couple - the two in the middle that are actually together. :D

SYD ICN LAX (stopover) HNL (destination)
HNL LAX ICN SYD . All on OZ and UA . I'm wondering if I'm on the QS Seats from SYD ICN LAX and return it says 777 I don't know . Taxes killed me $217.80 plus an extra $75 for some reason.
