US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

Sit tight, enjoy the flights, come back with 20K spare in your accounts. USDM make mistakes quite frequently so nothing to worry about it. You can try calling them and advising them of the error, they might rectify it or sometimes they won't. My friend called them three times to tell them they had undercharged her, and three times they came back and said don't worry about it. She worried till the day she travelled because was concerned she would not be let on the plane. Anyway, another friend has her AUS-EUR F return points deduction at only 35k per person :D

I had to ring USDM up after my wife got her statement last night which still had 120,000 points sitting in her account. I just wouldn't have been able to live with myself (or her) if we'd have got to the airport and not allowed to fly. Spoke to the lady, she was very good about it. She said that sometimes this happens when a booking is made for two people and then separated to do the ticketing.

Anyway, all sorted and the points have been deducted correctly. I'm not worried about the points as I have already forked out the money for it so really no loss to me.

I feel better now.

Im not. Her I'm a Him. I still don't know how they charged me 35k going from where to where. I also went syd - hawaii in J for 30k I really liked USDM until they shut down my entire families accounts.

I would call and tell them to take out the correct miles then you can sit back and relax . Enjoy your trip.

.

on 13 feb 2103 (on another board) you stated you are now sitting on 160k USDM points and were asking whether they would be transferred to AA. did your points and/or accounts get reinstated?

No they didn't .But i got back the money from those accounts that they shouldn't have closed. I think this move with AA is good I still have the executive platinum status for now this might help me .

Whats the ratio 1:1 and what about the QFF and emirates is that 1:1 as well .

QF and EK aren't merging loyalty programs.

That "friend" that I am referring to is not you but to a personal friend.

Anyhow from what you have told us previously USDM closed your multiple accounts because they believed multiple fraudulent activities occurred which I believed included the sale of an award ticket to a friend and not because you (or whoever's account you were operating) were under-charged award tickets because of USDM own mistakes.

I think most of us knew you weren't refering to Shaye2233 as your friend even without the her reference.

I just booked SIN-MLE-SIN simple additional itinerary to my OW trip next year. Total cost was 30 000 + $100 taxes/booking fee for each passenger for business class travel on Singapore Airlines. Normal ticket cost is about $2300 per pax, so its a pretty good deal :)

Maldives here we come!

Surprisingly this redemption is considerably cheaper through US compared to KF. KF wanted about 60 000 points + $300 taxes per pax for the same itinerary!

Hi Guys,

Just got 4 pax for New Year PER-JNB -CAI-BKK-SIN-PER flying C on SAA, EGYPT and SQ. Unfortunately going to have to do Y on Egypt from JNB to CAI as I couldnt find any C seats.
$247 taxes & fee pp
Was difficult to see reward seats this time so hope not sign of the times and happy with booking:mrgreen:

Probably our last trip on *A on USDM given the merger so thought we'd tick off something on our bucket list and head off to Egypt and Jordan in Jan 2014. Itin is for 2 people

SYD-BKK TG A380 F
BKK-MXP TG A340 F
MXP-CAI MS B737 J (Destination)
CAI-BKK MS B777-300ER J (Stopover)
BKK-SYD TG A380 F

160K in points and $172USD dollars in taxes + $50USD booking fee per person.

When we put this booking on hold there was only 1 seat in J available on the MXP-CAI leg (So we booked 1 in J and 1 in Y) but when we rang up about an hour later another J seat appeared and they were able to book my wife into J without rebooking the whole itin. Great success!!

Would have loved to come back via the EU to maximise the F experience but time was against us. Still, looking forward to trialling out MS J. We're doing a 2 week tour of Egypt and Jordan and it's something I've always wanted to do from when I lived in the Middle East as a kid.

We've got a trip coming up to the States in July/Aug this year as well so a nice way to get some good value in a short period of time while it lasts.

Happy days :)

Booked the oldies a trip to South America for their Antarctica Cruise next February. Routing is PER-JNB-EZE-xJNB-PER (x denotes transit) flying with SAA all the way in Business. A cursory glance of the partner award chart would have you believe that this routing would cost 120,000 Div Miles pp. But I am told by the agent (and Supervisor to whom I escalated) that since you are using your stopover in South Africa, then South Africa is deemed as the actual destination, and not South America. I did try to explain the logic of the alternative from Perth via TPAC and through North America actually flying further distance and at greater real cost to US Air, but 'computer said nooo...'. BTW, the agent did confirm that if there was no stopover in JNB then it would be 120,000 points. My parents didn't want a transit in JNB but were forced to due to lack of availability. Has anyone ever come across this? Strange....

wrong explanation but the 'more common' outcome these days. They are charging a higher award price for stopping in a higher zone (more agents are doing this and it is becoming more common to be charged this way (as always YMMV))... but wrong explanation in that they can't change your destination - it is the farthest point from origin, which is EZE.

Thanks for the prompt reply MEL_Traveller. I rarely check this thread nowadays since I've got a pretty good handle on USDM bookings having made about 20 now in the past 3-4 years so I excuse me if it's been asked earlier. What was more interesting in this case was that the computer was actually coming out at 130,000 miles and which was auto-calculated (according to the agent). She could not override it despite acknowledging and agreeing with my pleas for some common sense. So it seems this is not a matter of playing agent roulette, this is a deliberate and planned award miles re-calculation incorporated into the booking system that is undocumented on the award chart or in any of their USDM T&Cs.

yeah I don't know exactly how it works... some people are still getting AU-USA via Europe with a stop in Europe for 140K, not 150K. Others are reporting getting the higher charge going NEA-SEA-Europe. So it seems a bit hit and miss.
