You might have got hammered on the fuel surcharges, but you got lucky with the trip pricing. For stopovers in a higher zone, USDM usually charged the higher fare... so it would have been 120K per passenger with a Europe stop. So you 'saved' 30K points... which is not much, but helps off-set the fuel fines a little
Pretty good routing and redemption!
Yeah, thanks I know. However in one of my HUACA sessions the agent did mention that she wanted to price it as 120K, on the non-written pretext that I was spending more time in Europe than USA. I just replied that it would not have passed the MPM rule for the return journey via USA... "I'll think about it, thanks... goodbye", and ... hello next agent
I'm starting to get greedy again... I noted the recent updates mentioning that AA may be a bit lenient about date/time changes to US issued awards, and was thinking of upgrading the HKG-CDG segment to first if available later (BA has 8 seats still in F). Would be interesting if allowed as I have some points leftover but the 45K might be better used on a future EY redemption. (on the other hand, be thankful that I scraped thru to ticketing and leave it as it is).
My MEL-PER is in mid-Sept, and strangely seatmaps have come through on the new A330 layout. I'm not keeping too high hopes that there aren't any last minute swaps, but would be awesome if that stays
