no rates desk, couldn't believe it. she ticketed it there and then.
as we were talking on the other thread however, not sure how it got to 45,000. and also a rookie so not sure how to confirm if she booked me on business correctly and how to get the reference numbers to cross check on the airline websites.

Excellent bloody work.

been trying to book something similar for 3 weeks.
11 calls and no luck.

How many calls did you make and did they go to the rates desk?

you can call cathay Pacific to get your PNR. probably other ways of doing it, but calling is fairly straightforward. once you have that you can go on line and select seats etc.

i can't remember where the JAL record locator comes from... I think I found it via check my trip or something. again, you can just call them, then access their manage booking page to select seats.

class 'unknown' is standard on US itinerary receipts.

Also, if you log into your USDM account and view "your trips", it usually shows the PNR confirmations.

just booked and posted in other USDM forum

SENSATIONALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!
Just booked ADL (CX) -HKG (CX) -NRT (JL)-GUM(JL)(1 night)-NRT(12days stopover). HND (QF)-SYD (QF) - ADL in December

Bloody unbelievable call as well - must be super lucky - took 30 minutes from start to end
Almost going to hang up initially because it took so long to connect
Agent answered - no problems with finding each flight first time (didn't even ask me "Ade-what?")
Got to the end and read me back all my flights ("are you sure you only want 1 day in GUM?" - yes)
Agent: "here's your confirmation numbers - would you like to ticket now?"
"yes please absolutely"
takes all details
totally expected her to say "i'm going to place you on hold ........"
she DID NOT SAY THAT...
went right ahead to confirm all my flights and receipt is now in my mailbox

only weird thing is she initially said "30,000 miles" but got to the end and said "actually it's 45,000 miles"
i didn't even bother trying to correct her - didn't want her to go checking... so just paid.

all in all. 30mins from start to end.
paid 45,000 per person and USD215 in taxes.

after 11 calls this is awesome. definitely not as good as appaz and his recent 30,000 miles and 185 USD but i'll take it.

Well done. I have no idea where the 45k amount came from?!

Is there an F flight in there to make it 45K miles?

Not sure. I didn't question it. Only F possible would be from HKG to NRT and like smit said that's still only 40k total. Too scared to ask would've been even more upset if she decided to check with anyone else n i lost the entire itinerary. Or should I have tried asking more/calling back?

What's 5-10 K miles when you have something that very few other people have achieved recently - sleeping dogs best left lie? :p

Absolutely. It's an extra 15000 which probably works out close to USD $330 or so per person when I bought them which is not loose change but even at 45000 I'm sure everyone else trying would jump at that.

It's blank on the my trips section. Only has the USDM booking confirmation. Hope that doesn't mean anything bad. Looks like I'll try calling to find out

Look it up using your USDM booking confirmation and then call QF or cx to check it's okay

Booked PER-HKG-SFO//EWR-HKG-PER (CX) last night. Travel in August. 110,000 miles and $180.11USD for 1 PAX.

Had to make three calls to get it done. First one to the US, got an agent who couldn't find anything. Tried the HUCA trick, and got an agent who said "Oh, I think you were just speaking with my colleague..." - but she was far more helpful, and was able to put the outbound flights on hold, but couldn't find the inbound flights. Last call was to the UK, where the agent was able to see the inbound flights (after I told her to search for the day before due to the 1.30am departure) - and I ticketed it immediately.

Have booked MEL-HKG-LAX/LAX-BOS-BUF//BUF-BOS-NRT-ICN-HKG-MEL x2 in SEP, 110K miles & $170USD each. All J except BOS-BUF-BOS. No CX PNR visible under my US PNR though.

Evening All

Looking for some advice - the agent advised taxes of $993.34 - sounds like a lot on this itinerary but the agent insists they are correct, what do you think?
SYD-MEL-KUL-LHR-JFK (QF SYD-MEL | MA MEL-KUL | BA KUL-LHR-JFK)
ORD-LHR-KUL-SYD (BA ORD-LHR-KUL | MA KUL-SYD)

Any advice appreciated! Maybe im just over thinking it

Most of that would be the fuel surcharges on your BA flights.

Just did a quick and dirty check on ITA and actually I get a higher figure for the fuel surcharges (covering BA flights KUL-LHR-JFK and ORD-LHR-KUL) than your quoted figure, and I haven't even factored in the UK Passenger Service Charge (not the APD, which is not payable).

Should have added that on the return leg ORD-LHR arrives into LHR at 10:45pm and LHR-KUL leaves the next day at 8:15pm - my understandings is under 24 hours does not attract the environment levy?

Correct - the "environment levy" or Air Passenger Duty (APD) is not payable if you are merely in transit in London (or the UK for that matter), however in this case it is unlikely that that is what is blowing out the cost.

Unlike other airlines, itineraries that include BA or IB sectors have the fuel surcharges for those flights passed onto US DM awards.

It's not the environment levy, it's APD the "luxury" departure tax you're talking about but it doesn't apply in your case as it is only collected if you depart from LHR ie you stop there for more than 24 hours

Your "taxes" are probably mostly fuel surcharges on BA segments that may be quite high. For example, a BA F class surcharge on the LHR to SYD trip is more than $509
