US Global Entry Program for Australian citizens [from 2025]

Updates has been made to Global Entry Kiosks at LAX TBIT.

Previously had to scan document and finger prints.

Now all you do is remove mask & headwear kiosk will snap a photo. Gates will open and officers will ask you to proceed.

So much better than smart gates used in other airports that requires scanning of documents.

One of the last J pax off plane & was first person to clear immigrations & didn’t see anyone else arrive like 5-10mins later. QF LAX ground staff had to check with me if I was at right bag stand.

With all the new US routes QF is talking about, maybe one day we could justify preclearance at SYD?

No it isn’t but the agent said that my Global Entry is linked to both of my passports. I can enter the USA with either and they are eligible for Global Entry kiosks. As part of the application and interview process you need to enter details of all passports that you hold and also bring them to the interview. They were both ran through some type of machine.

PF can you confirm you have tested for your AUS passport and it worked? Did you have your ESTA linked to UK or AUS?

I also have a UK passport with Global Entry plus my Australian. I need to get a new ESTA before traveling to the US in June and figured it would need to be on the passport with GE. Like you I had to list both on my application.

I must enter the USA on my British passport to use GE.

IAD (Washington) also had same experience just recently. Very quick and efficient

Interesting, I just completed my enrolment on entry in to LAX last week and was told I can use either my Australian Passport or UK one as both were added as long as the ESTA matches the one I'm using. I checked in with my Australian one on the return and had my TSA Pre-check on all my boarding cards which were verified on lane entry with my passport.

I was told that too but GE definitely doesn’t work on my Australian passport.

I entered SFO in Dec and Jan on my Australian passport no problem as I always did before, never used my British for entry. I had got a new Australian one in May last year so just went and updated it in the system and no problem,

Did they have updated kiosk where it snaps a picture of you upon entry?

I tested my Global Entry today at LAX, had to put my Australian passport in the reader, and then just asked me to talk to an agent, she just scanned the passport again, asked why and how long and I was on my way, 30 seconds in total, no fingerprints etc and my ESTA was against my Australian passport. Passport scanning was the only option open today, didn’t see the simpler photo method mentioned above open.

Probably my fastest offload, immigration and baggage collection ever at LAX. 10 minutes later I was dropping my bag for the next flight and off to the AA FS Lounge :)

What do you mean Global Entry - you mean just the scanners that Australians can use at some airports? Australian's can't use Global Entry (yet)

I’m a dual citizen, British passport and Australian so I was able to apply for the program against my British one and then have the Aussie passport added.

Am heading to the USA this June. Did my research, no global entry for Australians (not even a trial atm).

So ESTA it is.
