US Global Entry Program for Australian citizens [from 2025]

The entry record only includes the document you entered on, so while I've got GE through my UK passport, I have no I-94 records when I search with my UK passport (which I've never entered on). I only get results when searching with my AU passport.

If you're on an E-3 visa and working in the US, you need to enter with your AU passport (through GE, if you can).

Aside - now both times I've entered the US (LAX) with GE on an E-3 recently I got pulled up by the CBP officer and asked to confirm my occupation, then they let me through. The last one said it often/always happened with E-3s.
Thanks. This is really helpful info.

So you just go to the kiosk with your Australian passport instead of your UK?

They have my Australian passport and E-3 visa linked to my Canadian GE account so I assume it would be similar and should be recognised in the system.. just not sure if this is what you do as never tried it. Thanks again!

At LAX you don't even scan your passport, it's all done through face recognition. If you have to see a CBP person then you give them your PP.

Quick question to the group

I'm a dual citizen (UK/AU). I always enter the US on my AU passport which has a B1/B2 visa (as I'm ineligible for an ESTA due to past visits to Iran). If I apply for Global Entry using my UK passport can I still enter the US using my AU passport or will I need to get a B1/B2 visa for my UK passport (and do I need to have the visa in my UK passport prior to applying for Global Entry?

IME it's possible to use GE benefits from a UK passport and enter on your AU passport and visa.

The issue is that I think you need a visa/Esta in the UK passport to actually register it under GE when entering the USA using enrollment on arrival or at an enrollment centre. After it's registered I think you could let the visa/Esta lapse and still use GE benefits with your AU passport.

Does that make sense?

I've just noticed an update on the Mobile Passport Control site :

New Traveler Eligibility

  • December 2023 - Travelers from Visa Waiver Program countries (ESTA users) with a prior United States entry will be eligible to use MPC.
Unfortunately looks like the app hasn't yet been updated to reflect this as the only option to add a traveler are still for citizens/permanent residents.

Once they update the app this might be an option for us?

Sounds like you'd have shorter queues when lining up to go through immigration. But I don't think MPC grants you TSA Precheck membership like Global Entry does.

The benefits of TSA Precheck are OK but not in the same league for Global Entry .

Those for Global can be immense - I had landed at HNL 10am last month and was queued for 55 minutes to clear immigration. I was beside the "Crew" lane which at one stage I counted over 80 lined up.

I landed into Miami last year and had to queue for nearly three hours. It was a total mess, as if they simply weren't expecting that many planes to arrive despite being scheduled.

Yeah. Miami is nothing special. I’ve had almost a 4-hour wait for immigration. Thousands lining up

Miami is very dependant upon airline. Star Alliance concourse has been relatively quick compared to the AA and BA areas

The Mobile Passport Control app has released version 2.5.0 with the following changes:

Additions
- Added support for Visa Waiver Program passport holders in MPC
- Note: We only require you to provide a name and a photo for VWP travelers
- Added a new feature announcement that will display on major updates; this can also be viewed in the user guide section under What's New
- Added a new badge to traveler cards that shows the selected COA

Changes
- We now require individual purpose of travel selections for each Canadian and VWP traveler; your selections will be saved for future submissions
- Improved animations on lists and the PIN login screens
- Updated the version alerts to the modern alert style
- Updated user guides and FAQs to reflect the addition of VWP travelers

Fixes
- Fixed an issue that caused the accent color to appear in the wrong color scheme after the photo update prompt appeared in light mode
- Fixed a bug causing the biometric setup prompt to appear when resetting the PIN
- Fixed an issue with animations on the PIN screens
- Fixed an issue causing the app to close when taking a photo after scanning an MRZ on the traveler form

Android version hasn't been updated yet only iOS it seems but positive news. My US wife and son use MPC and are usually not far behind me using Global Entry. My son last time was loudly complaining that I was cutting him last time and I wasn't a US citizen 😅

Yep you were right, showed the QR code on arrival and was directed to a specific MPC line. The immigration officer didn't even scan it though, took my passport and asked the regular questions. Was through in <10 minutes (AA concourse)

Data point:

Just successfully added my AU E3 visa to my GE profile at JFK T8 customs. Shows up online.
This is great news - the border officer told me I could do this too as I have GE in my UK passport and E3 in my Australian. He advised me to add my Australian passport to my GE account. But I have to do it at a customs office right

Correct. Pretty much every type of material change has to be done in-person, but I've just waited until the next time I'm going through CBP.

I tried to use the new Global Entry App at SFO on Friday, it kept saying I wasn't close enough, even when I was in the concourse approaching. Not really sure it would generally save me much time, never any queue for the machines for me and they are quick to take the photo.
