US Global Entry Program for Australian citizens [from 2025]

Hi Global Entry Friends,

I have duel passports UK/AU, i have been living in SYD for the last 6 years after moving from the UK. I was on a PR visa and then applied for citizenship here in AU. I'm sorry for my seemingly stupid question but can i apply for GE ?

Yes you can. My situation was the reverse (initially had only an Australian passport, applied for UK passport by descent). Just go through the process for applying with your UK passport, and at the GE interview, you can ask to have your Australian passport added at the same time.

Just a quick update. I got conditional approval within 24 hours of my GE application. Does anybody know if I have to make an appointment for the Enroll on Entry program vs making an appointment?

When I did mine a couple of years ago, there were no appointments for a convenient time where I'd be visiting the US. Enrollment on Arrival is the way to go. The Global Entry site should list which airports have Enrollment on Arrival and the hours they're open. I queued up for about 20 minutes at the LAX GE Enrollment on Arrival desk, and the process itself was pretty quick and painless.

Thankyou so much for the info!

Thanks for the handy info; I have 6 hours in LAX, and I may do this... where is the GE on arrivals desk?
I don’t recall exactly. Maybe it was after immigration and luggage pickup but before customs? Don’t quote me. Signage (or asking immigration staff!) should hopefully be sufficient to find it.

(Unhelpfully I do remember that at SFO Internstional terminal it’s one of the lanes on the left at immigration that handles EoA. But they have more restricted hours and I turned up there on a prior trip and found they were not open.)

It’s in the way out towards the exit on the L hand side after you have collected baggage.

Very well sign posted and easy to spot.

There are two baggage carousels in TBIT that are part way up the hallway towards customs. I think they are numbers 1 & 2. The desk is behind them (towards the exit).

When I arrived in QF95 last week there was no queue as I asked a question about whether I could use my AUS passport in the reader as it's linked to my GE. Also whether I could get the ESTA in my AUS passport.

I did mine at JFK years ago and the interview was at one of the sta dard arrival desks.

GE is amazing. I've never had to queue for a machine and you're through in 15 seconds.

Went to JFK for my interview today and was told in no uncertain terms that I wouldn’t be able to use GE with my AU passport and visa after signing up with my UK passport. Signed up regardless (after having to apply for an ESTA on the spot). Hopefully pre check works at least.
I am in the same situation - attended interview at Term 4 JFK and was told I could not include my AU passport (with visa) in GE - I was using British Passport as the basis for GE and included both in my application and received conditional approval in 24 hours -but agent at JFK said I cannot enter US on my AU passport with visa.

Got my conditional GE approval last week and planning to Eoa at LAX, Also told I would need to use my UK passport with ESTA and not my AU Passport (so I've had to shell out for an ESTA for my UK passport)

Appreciate hearing how you go and if they let you include your AU passport and Visa.

I think LAX may be a bit easier than JFK in that LAX probably sees a lot more people with E3 visas and a lot more Aussies would clear immigration there compared to NY.

I think something has changed in the US system as when I renewed my ESTA for a trip back in February I couldn't add my KTN to my Australian passport, it would only let me do it on my UK one.

At checkin I just presented both so they could validate I had an ESTA and then entered LAX on my British passport with no issues.

Just a quick question, I have a 10 year old, what docs do they need for the interview apart from passport?

I am a dual citizen AU/UK with GE
I always have my ESTA on my UK passport
