USA Entry - CBP Mobile Passport control app [MPC]

Came through Chicago yesterday and clear MPC (mobile phone) signs displayed. Unfortunately I didn’t have the correct app and took 45 minutes to process rather that 10.
What app did you have so we can make sure we have the right one. Thanks

I used the app with my Australian Passport (entered the US previously with my French Passport) and had no trouble going through.
It took us less than 2 minutes to pass immigration at SFO - clear designated lines for MPC.

Kind of annoying this is restricted to US Citizens/PRs and returning ESTA travellers rather than people returning on visas other than Canadian B visas. I have GE but MPC seems at least as good as GE. Is it?

Probably not ... with MPC, you still need to see an agent. I don't thinkthat's generally the case with GE.
I usually do have to see an agent, but I think I'm the exception because I have GE from by UK passport but enter with a visa in my Australian one.

LAS is in the list of ports that is ready for MPC however this week it was not available.

Data point - landed at T5 at ORD this morning and had a tight 90 minute connection onto T1.

Filled out the MPC in the queue for ESTA. The line signage was very ambiguous and two staff I asked gave conflicting answers. The far left lane then had a small sign for MPC which would have saved me a good 30 minutes in the queue.

I've been using MPC for the last couple years with my US passport and even at LAX coming off the QF flight I breeze through in 5 minutes. It doesn't seem to have caught on much in the US as the lines are short. Most frequent US travelers seem to prefer Global Entry which is subsidized on US credit cards and use different lines.

Some data points here: my partner is an Italian national and thus eligible for ESTA. I'm Canadian with Nexus (Global Entry). We had to transit through 1 airport (JFK) and pre-clear another (YVR for our flight to SFO). In both instances my partner actually got through slightly quicker than I did with Global Entry. With that being said, I still prefer Global Entry over MPC (which I'm also eligible to use) for the simple fact that I don't need to fill anything out. The process of Global Entry is, you walk up to a kiosk, it scans your face, and then you wait for an officer to call your name. They usually ask what is the purpose of your trip and that's it. No need for a passport or WHTI compliant document to pass enter the US (technically you still need to have those on hand but in practice it's all touch free).

Funnily, thats all i did this trip.

Walked up to CBP agent, took a photo asked what im doing in the states and how long, fingerprints since i hadn't been in a while now and then off i go. Did not ask for my passport which was surprising to me.

I traveled on QF11 from SYD-LAX on July 21st 2024 and had the MPC process on my phone completed and arrived at immigration hall to a grumpy worker pointing to the normal visitor line saying MPC was closed :(
Anyone else had that experience recently

We recently returned from our trip to NYC ....We landed at JFK at 6.00pm and the immigration hall was jammed beyond capacity unfortunately....found the sign showing the MPC booth but finding the line was almost impossible, neverthelss we joined a mass of people and soon found our way to the point of "next please" when the border officer closed her booth and took the incoming passenger off to who knows where....stood a few minutes waiting for someone to reopen but no one reappeared and then one of the officers directing traffic came over and took us to a booth where the kind officer said " no I will not process an australian passport " so off we were taken to the far side of the hall and placed at the head of all those other poor souls and were immediately processed but in the normal manner and they had no interest in our MPC filing...Out of immigration and customs within 30 minutes of arrival...interesting !!
