San Diego not really our market; "market research" haha;

another idea; is go for 2 days and return on QF on the Sunday night using points 'thanks dad" :) ; and use the return for the future.

Thanks for giving AFF's the heads up CrazyDave.

Myself and a friend purchased economy tickets this morning for the inaugural flight and are really excited about our unexpected holiday! What a great excuse for an 8 day break in LA.

Will you be joining us on the flight or at the airport Dave?
And what type of celebrations can we expect on Friday?

Glad to hear you are taking it up Fifa. I will be at the airport to see the flight off, but not flying myself. Someone has to stay behind to run the actual airline ;)

I think I should leave the celebrations and celebrity list as a surprise. How about doing a trip report for us with photos?

cheers

crazydave98,

Thanks for the excellent offer :!:

Like so many others here, if only I was in a position to take the trip. Not sure how my tired old body would have handled so many hours in economy but it would certainly be worth trying.

After being off (leave & RDO's) for 13 days I'm unfortunately back to work on the 28th Feb.:(

What a fantastic deal - to the US and back for less than a trip to PER...oh boy I wish I could make the time to take the trip!

Again unfortunately working the next two weeks and a new grandchild arriving first week in march.Great work crazydave, the thought is appreciated.

I hope they have another p/e @ $2499 sale bne > lax for travel in October '09...

wishful thinking?

Enjoy the inaugural flight Fifa

I'm assuming they will let passengers roam freely between classes just to check out the entire plane.

It was a very good offer and heads up by crazydave98 but the 8 day minimum stay / turnaround meant I couldn't take up the offer due to work issues.

Thanks for the info crazydave, but I'm already busy that week otherwise I would have got my backside on a flight from Perth for the experience.

crazydave, you obviously work with Virgin, i took a look at the V product offering and it looks pretty impressive. what struck me as great was on the first flight I could book business return for $6000, what a great price and I am sure V will be right up there for my next trip to LAX in J class if those prices stay firm. If it was not for me having something on this weekend I would be tempted to get on that first flight, still am tempted just to maybe get a chance to say hello to Sir Richard. Is he definitely on the flight and would there be a chance to meet him in flight and say hello.

Yes Sir Richard will be on the first flight and he will spend most of his time walking through the cabins meeting people (which he always does when flying any Virgin branded airlines by the way).
cheers

Dave, a minor annoyance with the website -- I wanted to see what would happen if I tried to book both inaugrals and it wouldn't let me. I could book it as two one-way flights, but that would be obscenely expensive. :( I guess most people wouldn't try to return same day, even though there should be no issues doing so. Would there be a reasonable way of doing this?

Hi there notzac, as noted in the orginal post the fares are 5 day minimum stays sorry. You could always book 2 return flights with first leg of each on inagurals and string the other 2 legs together for a later trip (not sure off-hand the validity period).
cheers

If only the budget extended that far right at the moment ;) ah well, another time maybe.

Hey great deal. Too bad I am booked with V to fly to LA on 1 March! Still bagged a bargain though - $999 when V launched last year. Can't complain and looking forward to it. Ex EK and QF here so will be good to compare different airlines. V are being very tight lipped about what to expect inflight - any ideas when/where I can find out about food/entertainment and whether or not I can request specific seats - not a huge amount available on its website. Any ideas what loads are like for the flight on the 1st? Would love a bit of extra space in Y!!

I remember seeing somewhere here that you can contact the call centre and arrange seat assignments.
