V Australia launch flight - secret fare for AFF members

Thanks Dave, I'd take up the offer too, but I'm already in the US and scheduled to fly on the first LAX-SYD this Friday (US time)...

Anything likely to happen for this flight, or will it be business as usual for this one?

It must have been fruedian, as every time I am there I get los(T) in the casinos. Those casino designers would keep a minotaur happy.

If you go anywhere near the casinos you should have added another S to los .

Hi, it's me again -- the one who apparently messed up her flight change from Mackay to SYD in early January, and was surprised to arrive at the airport and be told she'd missed her flight. I never heard back from them about a refund, so I'm guessing I lose.

Anyway, I wish I'd seen your post about the low fare. I didn't check the fares again until this past Monday, when I grabbed one for $790 USD, and took off from the US Tuesday on Qantas so that I'd get in to Sydney by Thursday, to take VA 001's inaugural flight on Friday!

It was an incredible experience I wouldn't have missed for the world. A review of my experience in Economy can be found in the FlyerTalk site's Trip Reports forum. I'd post a link, but the system doesn't want to let me do so until I've made 10 posts here. Sigh. But if you look for it there, you should find it and can link to it. Alternately, I'd be glad to repost it here if that's preferable.

I also have lots of pictures, audio and video that I'll get up somewhere as soon as I can. It turns out that Fifa and I were seated in the same row, though in different sections of it, by the way!

Maybe not the precise place for this but I didn't want to start a new thread.
I've been checking prices for SYD-LAX for Sept-Oct and all the flights i checked go via MEL. Is this the new schedule? I didn't check a lot of dates so there may still be direct flights ex SYD.

If they are aiming to fill the flight by having SYD and MEL pax on the same flight wouldn't a triangular route achieve that better? For example SYD-LAX-MEL-SYD etc.

Something to do with direct flights from BNE?
