VA DSC Offer - When will we see some love ?

If it does come it better not be next month as I've booked my additional flight that wasn't totally necessary just to achieve SG. After that it's all okay!

If not for their comp SG two years ago I would probably still be flying 80% QF rather than 80% VA so that part of the plan worked a treat.

I also dont think they should do a DSC offer.

If those comped status cannot maintain it by flying then they need to fly more. The freebies cant last forever.

I doubt there would be a DSC offer 'til the end of the year at least.

What with reward tickets earning Sc's from the six months of the year there's been plenty of opportunity.

Having said that, I think that if you travel during a DSC promo, you should get the DSC regardless of when you booked it.

It'd be nice, but DSC is offered to those that they want to spend more with the airline, so including previously booked flights is pretty much giving away status. They might as well just double every flight's earn.

Got this email today:

Dear Mr Warks,

You are only one month away from your Review Date.
To maintain Gold and continue enjoying your benefits for another 12 months, you need to earn 400 Status Credits and fly four Eligible Sectors in your membership review period. Below is a summary of your activity to date.
<snip>

One way to achieve the additional 60 Status Credits required to maintain your membership before your Review Date, is to fly two return Flexi fare flights between Gold Coast and Sydney*

Or two cheapo returns SYD-TSV as I have booked.

They didn't say they were going to offer me double SCs to ensure I requalified!

Interesting to note that they gave you a travel suggestion. Obviously there's a lot of other options.

I just got a similar email. I'm on 475 SC but I'm waiting for 40 SC from yesterday's MEL - SYD in J to get credited. Then I will be SG.

The suggested remedy was a return flexi MEL - SYD. Maybe VFF still thinks I'm in MEL.

I'm 10SC short of requalifying WP, with flights booked to take me over. My month out reminder email suggested I fly a flexi MEL-SYD return, so the algorithm behind the suggestions doesn't seem too smart :)

I too bemoan the full lounges and long priority queues given it affects me ! I whinge lots about the status handouts whilst being seemingly neglected as an existing loyal customer ! But, I have just faced the situation where our company is looking to move all its business to a single carrier. Currently, 20% travel with VA, which includes me and 80% travel with QF, which includes most of the most senior people. VA won't status match to get the 80% so guess which airline we are going with. This affects me too :( I guess this is the other side of the coin.

That seems like an odd response from them given it would seem corporate travel is exactly what they are targeting. Are you saying QF are going to SM the other 20%?

That's what I thought.

Qantas status match  I doubt it !

Nevertheless, the company doesn't want to upset the people included in the 80% and feel the 20% is a smaller group to upset anyway.

Have a feeling with all the negative coverage QF is getting in the media, the DSC offer might reappear to entice flyers over to VA soon

Check your email inboxes, people!

There may be a DSC offer or a double points offer waiting for you...
