I think we have to wait and see until someone gets the card and can login.

For 28 Degrees. Pretty sure a google would have got you this:
Travel Card with No International Fees - 28 Degrees MasterCard

nope, it got me some rubbish about latitude, an ad for erectile disfunction and another one for split-cycle air conditioning.

"The 28th parallel south is a circle of latitude that is 28 degrees south of the Earth's equatorial plane. It crosses the Atlantic Ocean, Africa, the Indian Ocean, Australasia, the Pacific Ocean and South America."

Bankwest Platinum Zero Masatercard is the one I have that seems similar to the 28 degrees. I'll keep an eye on the global wallet because I do A LOT of shopping when overseas and it always kills me to not be earning points... Love to hear about the rates as soon as someone has details.

Been studying this product this morning, travel currency issues aside, from what I can see it will cost me a $1 load fee to put funds in but I will earn a velocity point for every $2 spent locally ??? Hmmm, have I missed something? The only other issue is the time it takes funds to be available.

I don't think it is worthwhile for local purchases but I am considering this option for when we go OS later this year. We are going to Bali and Thailand in Sep/Oct.

I notice that THB is one of the supported currencies but the IDR is not. I would be interested to see the conversion rates as when we have been OS previously using a standard Visa card, I was pretty disappointed.

The earn rate OS looks to be OK but as always, the devil will be in the small details. They have to make money somewhere and as long it is less than I have been used to paying through other means, then I can live with that

Well look what arrived in the mail today, with an added bonus. A Velocity branded leather card / passport wallet.

Wont be getting one, at least not in Gold, but that image of the turbine blades doesn't really do it for me, doesn't look good.

Tank gosh I wasn't the only one who thought the turbine pic was hideous. The wallet seems nice though!

+1 for turbine dislike, the card has a little too much going on.

Hopefully mines in the post today!

Disappointing that the Gold cards sent before Plat. ;)

I am interested to see more of the details, I am looking for some sort of debit reload card that could earn VA points.

Maybe they have a few people that are renewing Gold so Virgin decided to get those cards out first, it would be no easy task properly sorting and sending out a few thousand cards, are there machines around that could print a card, add a letter and a wallet and then put it in a satchel ready for post, it would be no easy task without a team of workers.

Interesting:

Significant risks
The significant risks associated with the Product include:
• We may cancel your Product at any time11

11 See section 20 (Card expiry and cancellation) of the Terms and Conditions.

Cancellation
20.4 You may ask for a Physical Card to be cancelled at any time, in which case a new
Velocity Membership Card without payment functionality will be sent to you.
20.5 If you have a Virtual Card, you may request its cancellation at any time through the
Website.
20.6 We may cancel your Card at any time. Where possible, we will give you 20 days'
advance notice of the cancellation. However, we may act without prior notice if:
- we believe that use of the Card may cause loss to you or to us; or
- we believe that it is required for security purposes; or
- you breach any material term or condition of this PDS, including these Terms
and Conditions; or
- we suspect the Card has been used illegally; or
- you have ceased to be a member of Velocity Frequent Flyer.
20.7 If we cancel your Card, we will give you notice as soon as reasonably practical
afterwards.

In this day and age I would have thought a phone call would be offered prior to cancelling a card, this is not mentioned, but should be IMO. These conditions as is in the PDS make this card a card that can not be relied on... I can see what they are trying to protect, but makes this a risky card to depend on...:?:

I dont see it any different to the EDR card where folks are getting a notice in the mail saying goodbye.

Correct...

Yet another card that cant be relied on Markis10, hence why many only have this card as a "sometimes" card like me

Yeah I have to agree. Always thought the card was far too 'busy'. The SG card doesn't look any better than the Red one (and I'm not going to bother opting in; the standard WP Platinum/Purple is far prettier ;)).

The dilemma for me is that i'd like the wallet but not the card, and i'm due to get my shiny new next 12 month card next month.
