VA Global Wallet

The dilemma for me is that i'd like the wallet but not the card, and i'm due to get my shiny new next 12 month card next month.

Opt in, get the wallet, opt out, "lose" the card, request replacement. :)

That's the 'back' of the card. The front looks sexier based on the images. Perhaps the SG holder can post a photo of the 'front'?

Surely the Visa logo, card no. and chip aren't on the back of the card?

Presumably the other side of the card looks pretty much like the pic that appears on the Velocity homepage? I.e. pretty much like a Velocity card!

You got it. It looks like my old card, just with a silver mag stripe at the bottom. I can take a side by side pic if anyone really wants it.

Received today, thank you Velocity! The travel wallet is certainly a sweet touch.

I've activated the card and can now see the exchange rates in my account which seem similar to what I would usually pay. I look forward to loading it up and giving it a go :)

by way of example, can you please give us the current USD rate? and confirm that it is in fact $1 to load, and then buy at that day's rate?

i don't have mine yet but I am travelling in 19 days and am eager to get more info before i organise my spending money

What status do those who have received the card have??

I presume my Plat one won't be coming until mid-August (have a end-August expiry - joined under status match, but have already requalified for Plat again).

AUD 1.00 = 0.8838 as of this second.

Looks like there's about a 3% commission bundled in. According to Oanda, the current interbank rate for AUD/USD is 0.91666 - add in 3% commission and you get 0.88916.

Am seeing AUD 1.00 = USD 0.9221 as mid-rate on afr.com
Similar rates on currency calculator

- which means commission even higher.

At these rates, the card won't be getting much usage from me.

Yeah that's pretty poor. The Current mid-market XE rate is 0.92239

The rate is actually worse than PayPal was yesterday when I made a payment (Was around .89).

I'll stick to my 28º card. I'd rather earn 0 FF points than pay 3% for the privilege (plus 1.5% surcharge at hotels as well, which is where the bulk of points would come from).

I'm Plat with an end of August expiry and mine arrived today.

The accompanying wallet looks good - but I've got a few of those now from AN, QF and a RFID blocker passport wallet that we got at a work function, so I'm not sure if I'll use it that much.

Got my passport wallet today too.

Gold status from a match offer they did last year and so I have to wait for my review date (will be dropping) for the actual card...

Ouch.

Will be sticking to my Citibank plus.

Will be interesting to see the QF card v the VA card side by side comparison...

Design wise really cluttered and I hate branded wallets in general unless they are designer ;).... so not a fan of that either.
