Delta refused me entry in ATL.

Both Flying Delta First domestic.

Showed her my Virgin Plat card and she sighed and said "that is a credit card sir - you cannot get entry here with that".

I replied no it is a Virgin Platinum card - and we both have one.

She looks at it again and no - it is a VISA card sir, affiliated with Virgin. See the VISA symbol right here?

She was not budging in any way.

Lucky it was quiet and her fellow Dragon who overheard it all, tapped her keypad, and showed Dragon #1 some rule or other on her screen, and Dragon #1with VERY bad grace and a scowl allowed us in.

Terrible! I opt out of the visa-load CC so it doesn't confuse the overseas lounge agents. Just not worth the hassle.

I've been Virgin Plat for many years and the last 5 or so have had that confusing VISA card style. Whatever it is for I've never bothered signing up for it or using it.

Are you saying you can ask for a Plat card that looks only like a Plat card not a VISA card?

I had similar happen some years ago at MSP with an agent fixated on the Visa aspect.

I turned it around and I was permitted access with a laugh.

When I returned home I opted out of the funny money and now have an unadorned WP card.

You can do this via the website.

Log in, go to My Benefits, and opt out of "Memebrship Card with Global Wallet Functionality"

We happen to utilise our Global Wallet (debit visa) card for overseas spending with great success. However, when trying to enter a Lounge, Mr Clipped presents his digital card on his iphone and they scan it. I wouldn't consider presenting the Velocity debit visa, as it's too ambiguous.

I guess the advantage of moving from SC to WP and back again on such a regular basis, is the ongoing provision of a shiny new card each year. However, I have been known to discreetly but firmly, reiterate our eligibility to a Delta SkyClub Class Lounge to an unsuspecting and ill-informed desk clerk.

Totally, and in fact I'm transiting through MSP next weekend. At Christmas I was in PEK and turned up at the Priority Pass lounge, convinced it was for Velocity members when flying Hong Kong Airlines. Anyway, presented my VA Plat card and of course they tried to swipe the Visa to charge me the fee! Of course there is no money on it. Mass confusion and no Mandarin from me. Eventually I twigged that the Hainan lounge was the place I needed to be. Yep, it's time to opt-out of VA Visa and get my nice shiny purple colour back.

LOL sorry it’s a little funny but also very annoying. Perhaps travel with lounge access print outs from the VA website?
