I'm looking to fly from either SFO or LAX to SYD (via SIN) on an SQ reward flight and I'm VA Platinum.

Since VA is a partner of both UA and SQ, any chance I'll be able to use a lounge?
Flying economy on an SQ issued ticket.

No access via velocity status as there is no Singapore Air operated lounge there unless you are flying business in which case you get UA.
Or the Star Alliance Lounge (which is in the terminal where SQ departs from), or thr AC lounge if you can be bothered walking that far (ditto the walking comment for the United lounge).
