VA Status on SQ boarding passes?

Mine was in the large blank space on the left underneath the E-ticket number, printed in smallish font. The VA membership number was on the right-hand side. Those passes were printed in HKG.

Can't remember if the SYD ones were slightly different, or if there's a different layout based on whether you're in Y/J/F (doubt it, but maybe?)

I had Y boarding passes recently printed at SYD check-in, and at Hong Kong Airport Express station check-in (in-town, rather than at HKG itself), and all are the same format, same stock with the ads on the back (Singapore Explorer Pass, etc).

On the left under my name was "VA [number]" in same large font as my name, then a smaller "PNTR PARTNER GOLD" immediately underneath. On the stub side, there's only "VA [number]" in small font.

According to Velocity website my status reviewed on 16 September back to Silver.

Boarding passes on 16 September for BKK-SIN and 17 September SIN-HKG both had Partner Gold on them.

Unfortunately those 2 flights have not credited as yet which would have given me Gold status again as my SCs balance is 430 SCs and those 2 flights will take the balance to 500 SCs exactly. The flights 2 weeks prior had credited within 2 days.

Next VA flight is ~3 weeks away but I have now lost Gold status. Boarding passes are in SYD so this could be a painful wait to do retro claim. Not sure why it's that difficult to credit flights without manual intervention.

I'm reading this thread with interest as Mr Jurahn and I will be flying PER-FRA-ARN return next year with SQ, booked directly through the SQ website and flying Y unfortunately :( . We're both VA Gold so it appears from this thread that we'll have something like "Partner Gold" printed on our boarding passes and just wanted to ask what the process is with priority boarding (haven't flown with SQ for some years) as to when we're eligible to board. After seeing a photo of the Boarding Sequence poster at the gate on a Flyertalk thread, do we board with Krisflyer Gold/Star Alliance Gold pax?

Thanks :)

I'm VA platinum and flying SQ to Singapore tomorrow - does anyone know which check-in line I'm entitled to use? The VFF website isn't very clear.

I have been using the Krisflyer Gold/Premium Economy check in at SIN T3 and the J check in at PER without any problems as a VA WP.

You board with the Krisflyer Gold and Premium Economy at larger ports like SIN and with the J passengers at the smaller ports like PER.

Terrific, thanks for that! Much appreciated :)

The other option is to stay in the KF Gold lounge, and time your arrival at the gate 15-20 mins before departure (in SIN anyway, which reliably closes gates 10 mins before departure). If you do this I can almost guarantee there will be no queue to speak of during security screening or boarding (unless the flight is running late), very likely that there won't even be a line up in the airbridge, and you board completely at your own leisure. My theory is that in Y on long haul you don't want to be stuck in the plane any longer than absolutely necessary, unless you have oodles of hand luggage to find room for!

Thanks for that suggestion - certainly an option but I tend to be a bit of a worrier when it comes to being on time for flights so prefer to be at the gate earlier rather than later! Being in a queue doesn't really worry me, I'll be sitting down for long enough on the long haul sectors, so standing up for a while isn't a bother. We don't have oodles of hand luggage, but we have selected exit rows SIN-FRA and FRA-SIN which of course have no under-seat or seat pocket storage in front, so want to make sure there's room for our stuff in the overhead compartments!

All good! For my approach to work people it relies on people boarding early, otherwise it would be a mad rush at the end of boarding! You can join priority boarding as suggested above, at SIN the worst queue will probably be at security (with no priority given to status or biz/first pax!). I advise against getting there too early (i.e. >1 hr before the flight departure), as there are no toilets once you enter the boarding area :!:(IMHO, Changi's biggest fault).

Thanks for that info - I'm a nervous flyer so always need to have a dash to the loo before boarding, and I haven't transited through Changi for quite some time, so it's helpful to know there's no toilets in the boarding area! Quite surprising for an airport like Changi though - mind you, not having showers or toilets in the Gold lounge at SIN either is an odd omission as well.

It's an odd one. There are toilets outside of (what seems like) every gate. Easy to find one if you're yet to clear security. I guess it's because once you enter the gate lounge you're treated as already boarded.

So as an update to this, I've printed my boarding passes for Monday, and it does indeed have Partner Gold on it, even though right now, I'm still Silver (was gold when I booked). I re-read the forum and saw that at most, people have used priority boarding and checkin but not tried it at the lounge. I'm tempted to try, the worst they can say is "sorry without your card you're not coming in" - but I think it's still worth a cheeky shot ;)

I'll be Gold by the time I get to Tokyo, so the return should be a little easier.

IIRC I didn't need my card at the gold lounge as the status was printed on the boarding pass. This was just last month.
I did notice the staffer pointed out the partner status to their colleague, mentioning to look out for it. Perhaps they don't see many??
Hope it goes smoothly for you!

You know, after posting that I went onto their website to look up what the "features" were of the Gold lounge and yeah, didn't mention showers. My initial thought was "maybe they just take it as a given that showers are in there" - but evidently from your post, that's not the case!

And thanks Neald, I just might look into that :) I had no idea what I was going to spend those Airport Dollars on anyway :)

I'd print out your ticket. I think I lined up like 3x in that line to collect Changi airport dollars because I needed the ticket number then needed it to be printed instead of a screen shot etc then had someone at another desk tell me I wasn't eligible when I knew I was blah blah.... anyway... 2.5hrs later .. lol
So just saying - print out a hard copy of the ticket and underline or highlight your ticket number so you only have to line up once and don't have to run around finding an internet connection, printer etc.

Update - had no problems getting in to the lounge or checking in, and I assume boarding will be no different. Also got one of the pair seats in Y on the 773, got to be happy with that! Thank you all for your advice and discussion :)

Hi all,

On a related note to the discussion here - what are peoples experiences with this for Etihad?

I'm flying (in Y) to Spain next Thursday and just hit the 500SC for Gold this past Saturday (the SC are showing on the website, but still says Silver). The flight itself is booked through VA but on EY metal. The booking was made some months ago so based on the above conversation I'd assume my boarding pass would say Silver despite being Gold at the time of check in? I realise I'm unlikely to get my Gold package in the mail before I depart, so what can I do to show to the EY lounge angels etc. that I'm Gold?

Any and all advice appreciated!

Once you show as gold online, go on and remove your FF number from the booking and re-add it, this should make the system update. otherwise you can get them to do this and confirm at check in

Congrats on gold. The website should be updated in a day or two.
