VA to Extend status for Some until 30th September 2022

Good question, I think it was early in April.

Edit to add from my Velocity account activity screen:

17-Apr-202017-Apr-2020Status review - see Account Details
It means that you like were due for a status review a fortnight ago, but have already been extended.

Also, it means in you should get a further six month extension in 11 months from March 2022 until September 20th 2022.

My status review was on 31st March this year:

31-Mar-202131-Mar-2021Status review - see Account Details

Which might mean that the status goes though to the end of September 2022 to fit in with your earlier post.

Looks like it - if not your review would have been in the last week or so.

I have the same activity review entry for March - normally mine would have been in May.

Wow, I just checked my account: yesterday's flights have already credited plus I scored 5,000 bonus points! This isn't like the old VA where flights wouldn't credit for about three days. So their system has had an upgrade as well?

I did not think it was same day in the past though or was it as I most likely did not check straight away.
I find the promptness a bit variable. Sometimes they are some day, but they can still take 3.days.

I find VA is basically immediately (or within an hour or two post-flight) whereas QF is a couple of days, which works well when using QR Gold benefits but crediting the flight to QF.

Interesting. In my case it is usually the other way around. QF is quite prompt, but VA takes 2-3 days. (mostly, though VA can be prompt)

Update on my situation, as someone who was upgraded to Platinum in May last year and therefore ineligible for any of the formal status extensions. I ended up calling Velocity a couple of weeks ago and having a long conversation with one of the supervisors, who was very friendly but said she could do anything further than the already announced deal that nobody with expiring status would lose their status benefits until 30 September (though review dates would stay the same).

Interestingly, she confirmed that those status benefits included my Platinum upgrades, which would vanish from my account on review date of May 4th but which she confirmed would remain available for use until the end of September. She also said not to worry too much and that I should "watch this space" as they had something in the works for people like me.

Having taken another look at my account now my review date has passed, I see I'm still Plat (as expected) but my review date has moved to December, which is my original review date from back when I was gold. In other words, it's like I have had the 12 month status extension that I would have been eligible for as a gold applied to my account, but with my current Platinum level. Not sure if this is being applied to everyone who upgraded, or just because I asked (but was declined...). Weirdly, no communication at all from Velocity about any of this.

Anyway, I'm pretty happy with this outcome. Hope others get something similar.

My partners upgrades dropped off on her review date then her new review date was her old gold review date. Quick phone call and she was able to get her upgrades which had expired applied to a flight next week.

Nice, sounds exactly like my situation too. Perhaps that's what they're now applying as standard to everyone who upgraded within a certain window?

Probably missing something, but wouldn't they have dropped off anyway? Not sure why you'd let them expire?

If it's anything like my situation, they dropped off due to limited opportunities to use them. However part of the deal they're running is an extended life for those upgrades, as part of the extended status (though not clear if the upgrades necessarily will last the full life of the extended status).

So her Platinum status expired after one year, before it expired she was able to get her Gold 12 month extension to apply after her Platinum review date. She was given a new review date of Feb 2022 which was her old Gold review date month instead of April which was her platinum review date.
For some reason the Platinum upgrades did not carry over with her extension although the Car and Hotel benefit did.
Hope this is a little clearer.

Did the upgrades get an extended life? They issued me new ones, and the old ones kept their original expiry.

They did not issue any new ones, and I was told on the phone that my existing ones have an extended life, even though they don’t show up anymore on the site. If you have been issued new ones, I can’t imagine them also extending unused old ones.
