Hi all, I am trying to move some KrisFlyer points to VA but every time i try to move them I get an error message and it asks me to contact my local SQ office for help. Does anyone else get this and if so, what is the issue? Thank you.

What is the exact error message ?

I called SQ and it is sorted now. For anyone else who experiences this issue, your account details need to match perfectly on KrisFlyer and VA for the points to go through. In my case the hyphen in my surname was missing on SQ. Hope this helps someone. SQ sorted it out and the points came through instantly.

Update! Today's BP shows 'PTNR PARTNER GOLD' below my name. Merry Christmas indeed.

And in more good news for me, my SQ J flight has been upgraded from a 773 to a 77W!

In my flight out on the 21st Dec to Singapore my VA member number was on the boarding pass but no status. Flashed my card at the business check in though and it was okay - got priority baggage and an express card to go through security. No issues getting into the KF Gold Lounge in Sydney, just handed my VA card with my boarding pass.

Would like to see some consistency though.

I noticed the same thing leaving MEL on Dec 22. Either they've only figured it out in Singapore, or they implemented it between 22-24 Dec. I'd say it would be consistent now.

Silk Air boarding pass issued in Phnom Penh for SQ flight connection SIN to MEL showed PTNR PARTNER PRIORITY on the left side. I booked on SQ website, entered Velocity FF number as crediting airline. Separately, I transferred across enough VA pts. to my KrisFlyer account to then ring Kris Flyer, quotedMembership number and request granted for Business saver Pts upgrade - from B bucket to I - for the SIN MEL section. Velocity pts and B bucket status credits for MI/SQ B bucket fare in my VA account the next day. The MI issued Boarding Pass also had on the left side side YOU ARE INVITED TO THE BUSINESS CLASS SKL (IN SIN). This is a really great partnership enhancement Velocity, and game changer for my travel with SQ and MI.

Just booked J LAX - YOW for the 23rd December on Air Canada via Krisflyer using Velocity points transfered over. Total of 27,000 VA points and $30 in tax's, no in lap infant fee.

Posted with out finishing :) - VA may not be in an alliance but seems to be these days that my Velocity points get me most places I want to go and considering how easy they are to accumulated it's hard to argue. Of course there is no reciprocal flyer benefits if not flying directly with VA partners however since 100% of my International travel is on points in J or F that does not matter to me.

Just can't get over how the world opened up since the Krisfyer transfer got my first Suites flight coming up in April!

Same experience for me flying out of SYD on Friday 30/1. No issues using the lounges in SYD or SIN though.

Flying back BKK-SIN-SYD on 10/2 my BKK-SIN boarding pass had **VA GOLD**GARD EXP.22MAY15 (yes, it said "GARD") on the left-hand side. The SIN-SYD boarding pass issued at the same time and place didn't mention it. Regardless, no issues at all with receiving all status benefits, just presented the card (gard :)) at each point, no dramas.

Keep it, maybe for framing... There is something in the wind with VA in Asia... not that I know, but were all of your sectors on SQ metal?

I'm really pleasantly surprised - I transferred points from VA to SQ last night and it was instantaneous!

Looked for availability using Krisflyer, checked points required, transferred, ticket issued.

Really very painless!

Just in case anyone is about to transfer points over today, due to a system outage at the VA end the points are not arriving in KF.

I have had a wait list SQ Suites award clear but so far been unable to book it due to the points having left my VA account but not arriving in my KF account as yet.

Unfortunately VA were not able to give me an estimate as to when this will e resolved.

That's rather annoying. I did it a few days ago and it was instant. I was fairly impressed (booking that would have cost 80k velocity points cost less than 50k Kris points).

If traveling in J, is there any benefit having a VA Platinum number added to the booking or does the class of travel get all the benefits anyway?

I have an SQ flight coming up booked J. Am plat with VA, looking for SC's as part of trip. If I move VA points to KF for an upgrade does that mean I will loose VA Points and SC's?

I had a call today. VA have re credited my Velocity account with the lost points after they confirmed with KF that they were not received.

The transfers are now working again as well, it happened instantly this time.

No, as long as your VA number is associated with the booking and you confirm at check-in, you will get VA points and SC's.

As mel-world mentioned, the VA FF number needs to be associated with the SQ booking. VA SC earn on your base SQ "J" paid ticket is assured, even if you subsequently upgrade to first using your Kris flyer miles. You will only receive VA "J" SCs, which are the same for Business/First depending on distance. You do not receive any VA Plat "bonus" points for your sectors, because your sectors are on a SQ ticket, only base distance points flown. Importantly, for VA Plat re-qualify, note that no VA sectors are credited. Summary: VA S/C earn in "J", points on distance - no VA bonus points as VA plat, no VA sectors. Enjoy SQ "F" if you can upgrade with your SQ Miles that you may have transferred across from VA . Cheers, PJ
