VA7 / VA8 ... BNE - delays over next few days

Is there a ground handler at LAX getting kickbacks from QF every time they break a VA 777?

Or is someone being employed on a three strikes system, and we should be prepared for this to happen one more time?

That was the 3rd time...

The more you read about this - the funnier it gets ....... Unless you are an effected PAX of course ....... I need to book BNE / LAX / BNE a fair bit till the end of the year and I do like the VA 777 option ....... but on current form errrrrrr ........

Question on the ground has to be ....... is there sufficient clearance Clarence ?

Here we go yet again VA8 is appallingly late ........ knock on effect is that VA7 BNE to LAX due out today (Sunday) @ 11:15 hrs is now not slated to push back until after 2am MONDAY morning

I will wave to the poor soles who didn't get the VA delay advice as I head to the QF gate ........

Although I do like the VA777 / J offer on this route .......I and others I know who do this stretch regularly have given up on VA on these legs ......... The number of major VA delays on this route this year is beyond a joke ............ I may be a one eyed Queenslander but I think the LAX - BNE and LAX - MEL routes may get the rough end of the pineapple to keep the LAX - SYD route looking sweet ........ Regardless VA8 should just be re-named VA late....................

I tend to agree with your thinking . I think LAX-SYD is the "golden child" for VAi , whilst LAX-BNE or LAX-MEL will be the sacrificial lamb if there is a delay of any sort in LAX. My thinking around this is that there is more to loose if VA2 is late , as I would expect there would be more connecting PAX on VA2(SYD) connecting to other flights in Australia , then there would be on VA8 or VA24 … just a thought. Loads maybe another factor that comes into it .

Agree fully re the got to keep SYDer's happy ......but there is no doubt the word is out well and truly that VA7 / VA8 are really 'on the nose' big time with 'BNE / LAX/ BNE regular commuter bunch'
Whatever the reasons foe the regular delays doesn't really matter as the damage is unfortunately already done for a while to come now .........

Still bar that love to know the 'reason's, other than impact damage ...... and why such very long delays are resulting so often

This from the VA Source shows the series of events for the delays , although doesn't shed to much light on what the technical problem was .

8th November 2013 - VH-VPE Los Angeles Technical Issue.

Boeing 777-3GZER VH-VPE operated VA7 Brisbane -Los Angeles today, however it then encountered a technical issue. VA8 Los Angeles - Brisbane has therefore been delayed overnight.

9th November 2013 - VH-VOZ Operates Delayed VA8.

Following the technical issue encountered by sister VH-VPE yesterday, Boeing 777-3GZER VH-VOZ operated yesterday’s delayed VA8 Los Angeles -Brisbane this afternoon after arriving as VA23 from Melbourne.

9th November 2013 - VH-VPE Returns from Los Angeles.

Following the technical issue it encountered yesterday, Boeing 777-3GZER VH-VPE returned to service this evening operating VA2 Los Angeles -Sydney.

Well, it probably wasn't a case of hitting the fence.

Must not be too serious, otherwise VA usually resort to their plan of rebooking pax on other flights (including DL and QF).

Looks like flight #8 is a bad omen for both Australian airlines!

If your in SEQ and like flying VA to LAX ......and you want better certainty you are better off sucking it up and going via SYD Still knocking on today .... yesterdays VA7 got out at 02:34 this morning +15 hours late today's VA7 schd 11.15 am is set to depart at 23.15 tonight ...12 hours late.

VA8 out of LAX 11/11 into BNE WED. 13/11 looks 'OK' at this time

I wonder why? The VA8 inbound arrived in BNE this morning.

The VA site is also showing it has been cancelled.

Seems like a BNE crewing issue. I know a MEL based 777 cabin crew who has been doing BNE runs for weeks.

According to the VA facebook page (posted in the last few minutes) today's VA 7 was cancelled due to an 'engineering issue'.

VA are down a 777 at present for maintenance, that won't be helping things, and a constant reminder why they need to have a closer look at their 777 options, then again they may have firmed two recently ;)

So, my travel agent just informed me that my Nov 13th VA8 was cancelled and rebooked by Virgin to QF16 (both in J). Does anyone know if I still have a chance to get status ,points and sectors on Velocity?

I would imagine the concept of original routing credit is not lost on Velocity!

Tonight's VA2 is cancelled but VA8 is operating.

I flew back on the delayed VA8 LAX to BNE arrived in BNE approx 12.30 am Monday 11th. Apparantley the problem was with the Sydney plane however due to curfews in Sydney the Brisbane flight was the one delayed, we were due to fly at 23.20 out of LAX on the 8th flight was delayed until 16.00 the following day. I received notification 5 hours beforehand and thankfully did not venture to the airport, those that did were not very happy to put it nicely, the lack of communication was a huge frustration for most.

There are no VAI 777 crew based anywhere other than SYD.

There are commuters, quite a few in MEL but all crew that work on the 777 on paper are based in SYD. ;)

Pardon? Have VA confirmed 2 more 777 deliveries?
