VA7 / VA8 ... BNE - delays over next few days

VPH is reported maintanence, and I would assume the same for VPF + repaint.

Wonder why they'd deliberately take 2 aircraft out of action like that as it has a big impact on their long haul services.

I would assume that impact is unavoidable, so they've selected a time to do this strategically to minimise the impact.

That said, I suppose if things had gone completely smoothly, there would not be a problem, and the scheduling would've been vindicated.

They will be struggling with 2 a/c in for maintenance. I noticed VA 1 was cancelled yesterday ( Wed) . I assume they were able to transfer pax to DL or VA7 ex BNE . VPH has been in Singapore since the 4th Nov , so it must be due back into service within the next few days .

markis10 , Care to share any insight to your comment around " may have firmed 2 recently " .

VA are down a 777 at present for maintenance, that won't be helping things, and a constant reminder why they need to have a closer look at their 777 options, then again they may have firmed two recently ;)

Its changeover, one will be back tonight ferried by crew that took the other one over yesterday.

Understood .....now back to the neatly side step point of the reference to the 2 possible firmed ..........any more meat on the bone .......

Still a "may have"

That's not overly helpful.

Qantas "may have" ordered 6,000 747-8s.... or may not have.

Are boeing sitting on 2 unidentified orders? Or is there some other rationale?

No..... all a tab vague just yet ....but possible area of deployment and where the finance $$$ would come from would make for interesting bar talk ............ the good old loud 'show me the money' cry ringing down the hallways ..........

Well ..... look at that ... my crystal ball was working in over drive re my "show me the money" remark in relation to funding new tin ....... reference the just made VAH ASX announcement .....

Link to offer details power point - should be a good read .....

2 more would make sense to allow daily BNE/MEL. Or more to AUH also (isn't it 4/wk currently)?

Do VA have sufficient pax rights for Mel and Bne daily?

It seems to be VH-VPF coming back, which is the one that went over a few days ago?

I thought VA's MEL-LAX was struggling with loads and was at some time back rumoured that DL was possible looking to take this over from VA , which would allow BNE to go daily to LAX ??? Does anyone have any data on VA's load ex MEL to LAX ?

My thoughts if there 7 a/c in total would be , maintain the 2 a/c on SYD-LAX , use 2 a/c on BNE-LAX to go Daily , 2 a/c on SYD-AUH to also go daily , then with the other 1 , either maintain the 3 weekly MEL-LAX and then then add 4 weekly to somewhere in Asia, or if MEL-LAX went to DL or withdraw MEL-LAX altogether , then go daily to somewhere in Asia. The Asian destination could be ex MEL still , to maintain a presence of VAi ex MEL or could go to SYD or BNE.

As for the Asian destination , I would personally love to see VA go to Japan , either NRT to tackle head on QF/JQ & JAL and try to break up the OW domination on the AUS-Japan route or look at HND as an alternative to NRT , which i would image would have some appeal , maybe MEL-NRT/HND ????

BNE/MEL daily is an internal murmur, today's 23/4 was full in and out.

Yep....VA8 cancelled again 13/11........anyone know why?

They only have 3 x 777 flying at the moment , instead of the 4 required to service the LAX-SYD/BNE/MEL timetable , so there has to be a cancellation somewhere on a route until such time as the 4 a/c returns from maintenance in SIngapore
