Re: VA7 BNE-LAX delayed 8rs+ Mon 2/9/13

Toll finished up doing VA's ground handling in BNE this week. Wonder if there was any difference in Toll's delay management handling of the VA7 delay on Mon 02 Sep vs VA proper doing the checkin on today's delayed VA7 flight?

Re: VA7 BNE-LAX delayed 8rs+ Mon 2/9/13

Most of the Toll people who were handling VA transferred across so there shouldn't be huge issues I wouldn't think.

Well 8 just touched down in the last minute @ 18:35 (+11 Hours) ....... boards are listing VA 7 departing @ 21.00 ......clock is ticking..... lets see how quick they can spin this girl on a nice clear spring Sunday night in Brissy

It's intersesting. When you only have 5 aircraft and they are all running on tight schedules and one of them goes 11 hours behind and it's in BNE which is your secondary port (in terms of flights and 777 aircraft) how do you catch up the time? It's not like QF who have a number of 747's lying around to step in at almost any time.

Re: VA7 BNE-LAX delayed 8rs+ Mon 2/9/13

Same thing keeps on happening. VA8 is just climbing out of LAX now 3 hours late

I wonder if they have a crewing problem at the moment? Pilot shortage? All it would take is a few captains/FO's to resign and they are quite short. Happened at Tiger Airways Singapore few years ago, 10 A320's, a few captains resigned and they couldn't crew there flights in the short term.

Aerocare took this over I believe.

Re: VA7 BNE-LAX delayed 8rs+ Mon 2/9/13

There isn't a crewing issue.

The current delays (this weekend) are due to an aircraft issue after take off that meant an air return (after a few hours of LAX holding dumping fuel) and then an aircraft change.

Now playing catch up with one aircraft currently on ground in LAX for maintenance. Hopefully doesn't take too long to fix.

Re: VA7 BNE-LAX delayed 8rs+ Mon 2/9/13

I had my parents on a J awards booking coming back on last weekend when VA8 was delayed again. To Virgin's credit, on check in they pro actively moved them to VA2 + VA931. Now if only LAX had been able to do the same with their bags...

Re: VA7 BNE-LAX delayed 8rs+ Mon 2/9/13

In the Koru lounge at BNE (Sept 11) now ..... 8 was on time and 7 is looking at an on time depart @ 11:15 .........touch wood !!!!

Re: VA7 BNE-LAX delayed 8rs+ Mon 2/9/13

Easy - take the fact the OP has a connecting flight to another city and the fact that there's no more flights to said city after VA's updated arrival time. As the OP will not make it to that city on that day, then the hotel will cancel the whole booking due to no show.

To guard against such scenarios, assuming pricing is the same, it is safer to book the first night as its own one-night booking and then book the remaining nights as a second booking. This will protect you for an up to 24 hour delay.

EASY - Ring the hotel and tell them that you are running late.....

Get the name of the person you have spoken to and probably also email them too to make sure

Not that hard

AeroCare are doing the ramp.

Guest services is a mix of AeroCare and VA at the moment and soon to be all VA.

Aero-Care is conducting ancillary duties including baggage services and movement control in terms of front of house duties PLUS all ramp functions.
