My wife and I are flying on VA82 in mid-July.

As a long time lurker (but first time poster!) I know there is much strength of feeling regarding the VA international J product. To avoid retreading old ground, we'd specifically like to know:

1. Are priority check-in desks available and, if so, how well do they function?
2. Is there fast track security, and are VA J passengers eligible (if not, is it possible to pay)?
3. Is there any update on whether pillows and blankets may be provided?
4. What time would people recommend arriving at DPS (it is our first Bali trip!)?
5. We assume no lounge access is included - are there any DPS lounges which are worth paying for?

Thanks all (and hello!)

I can't comment on the DPS fast track security. However, I went through the regular one about two months ago. It wasn't too bad at all. I can't recall exact timing but maybe 10 minutes or so. It didn't stand out as being painful. We arrived at the airport around 4:30pm.

I accessed the Concorida lounge with Priority Pass. Not worth paying to get into that lounge. It's on the warm side, no alcohol, terrible shower. You'd be better off spending your money at one of the food venues in the airport. It's quite a nice airport really.

Unless its changed fast track security at DPS was only available to pax flying GA / Skyteam.

As above, i wouldnt pay for any lounge at DPS.

2 hours would be sufficient time to arrive

1. Are priority check-in desks available and, if so, how well do they function?
Yes they’re available, with the usual purple priority signage. Usually someone from JAS Airport Services is manning the entrance to the queues, they’ll direct you to the priority one.

The VA check-in at DPS gets very busy during the evening departure bank as up to four flights depart within an hour of each other. I had a short wait for priority check-in a few months ago, but they had a number of priority desks so it was relatively efficient.
2. Is there fast track security, and are VA J passengers eligible (if not, is it possible to pay)?
I don’t recall seeing any signage for it, and it wasn’t offered by staff. The whole departures process was relatively quick. Arriving into Denpasar on the other hand was a nightmare.
5. We assume no lounge access is included - are there any DPS lounges which are worth paying for?
There is only 1…I think…lounge at DPS and it’s pretty average and usually packed from memory. You’re probably better off checking out the airport restaurant offerings.
3. Is there any update on whether pillows and blankets may be provided?
Not currently offered but they are coming very soon. Unsure if it will be in time for your flight though. I’d refer you to this post:

Nothing wrong with purchasing a VAInt J product.
Its all about what makes sense to you as the traveller 👍 . We cant have everyone in AFF who only fly certain airlines and in certain classes. That would be too boring.

#BFOD (best fare fo day)

Indeed and we are flying BNE - DPS on VA J as it was the cheapest by far.

We are doing ADL-DPS VA J in 3 weeks time.
Wasn’t my preference but going over with a large group of friends for a 50th and everyone is on the same flight. I drew the line at sitting in Y though like they all are. It’s a day flight so won’t be too bad but no way would I do it on the overnight return. We are flying CGK-MEL GA J for the trip home
