Vaccine Rollout in Australia - personal accounts.

T-3hrs and Im moody that I have to go to Olympic Park and get #1 AZ this morning (because I dont want to).

Hubby doing his best, treating me like a grumpy toddler, but first we do eggs benedict at a cafe because if today is my last day on this planet Im having eggs beno first!

Edit, the joke in my office is Im having my microchip installed today - Im the 1st in my office of 50 people.

Update. T-30mins 🤣 Uptown Charlie Cafe is recommended.

Olympic Park photo bomb.

2 lines to enter, all given a mask and oldies marked with a #3 sticker and sent to the left to enter, up stairs, elevator available, then guided to self check in. AZ starts at 10am but the young Pfizer people start at 8am. Pfizer jabs are on the ground level and seem to use both sides of the building space.

Lots of seats but 10am booking meant super quick to be seated at a booth and the 20 questions and show 2 x IDs. Large screen TV's with your injection number and booth # but text also sent to your phone. Staff are either team AZ or team P according to their PPE.

Painless injection, a bit teary but that's because I'm a whiny B, and another sticker put on me noting injection time and now to observation where a nurse walks past us ever 60 secs or so. I'm noticing no improvement to my phone/data reception so maybe I got a dodgy microchip.
Currently thinking hubby should take me to nearby DFO for a Burberry bag/vax gift.

Moment of panic when I felt slight sharp pain down arm a couple of times, requested to extend observation time by 5mins with no issues but nurse did note my details. Have to remind myself that I had aches and pains before I got here as well but noticeably hyper aware of a "what's that?" response to every niggle (I have sciatica and neck issues, had needling/Chiro yesterday).

As people are allowed out of observation, their chair is sprayed and wiped down. Exit to the rear, bigger queues now, especially for the Pfizer. I phone hubby to come pick me up on Figtree and no issue with a 30sec car stop and on our way home.

The eldest cygnet had his second PF jab this morning and is apparently now called Bill (as in Gates) at work. He is the first in his office to be fully vaccinated.

Sister just told me that my nephew, who has downs syndrome, has to get his vax at hospital clinic as GP won't do it.

Well done (both on getting vaccinated and on the quality Trip Report!), and welcome to the club ;)

Had AZ# 1 at 10am yesterday and about 2.30pm was feeling a bit nauseous but only slightly. This morning a slight headache but it was also cold and my sinuses felt blocked so maybe that so not worrying yet. Took a panadol just in case.

AZ #2 today. Whilst doing my 15 minutes post-vaccination wait, I was catching up with the news on my phone. The headline article was ATAGI changing their advice on AZ to over 60's. Oh well, lucky I snuck it in before knowing any better.

Booked my second jab today with the new online booking system. I was pleasantly surprised that it worked great (given its a Government website).

Had AZ #1 on Wednesday and I feel like I have a low level headache since Thursday morning. Its not severe but annoying and I wonder if a chiro appointment will get rid of it (I cant see my chiro until Monday) or its something else. Temp currently 36c.

Just an update : We both had a very mild soreness around the implant site later in the day , nothing else.
Oh.. I did feel just a tad sympathetic about a China centric news item this morning and wondered if my new understanding was underway already….

I've got one of those heads too today, just took two Panadol. 8 days post second AZ so likely just a headache and that's all from poor sleep.

I don't think I'm a very good Manchurian Candidate as I'm fairly unreactive to most vaccines (except the dreaded tetanus). I'm still waiting for my twin transponders to activate; zero symptoms to report after my AZ2.
