Velocity Double Status Credits July/August 2023

Yes that has happened to me, but I found the way around it (if it's business class) is to make a new booking for another departure time/date for the same routing at the same fare and it'll then allow you to change to the original flight with no fees...
I just cancelled an existing business class booking this morning and rebooked for the exact same $$ value. My cancelled amount transferred immediately into my travel bank and then I was able to book the exact same flights. Good to know the workaround though if we need it!

Unfortunately no business class between ROK-BNE any more since VA use Alliance Fokkers on that route now. Had a great time during the last long lasting DSC time when we did have Business class for around $199 each way. Went from PS to WP in no time. Those were the days.

They do still have Business class once a week on a Monday morning but it's worth noting that even if they did offer it more widespread, VA now charge $399 oneway as the cheapest fare on the BNE-ROK route.

6:25am - that's for business people not cat ladies haha 😉 No wonder I never noticed it. I don't drive so have to fit my flights in with the bus timetable (around 50km away). I mostly catch the flight around 10:30am - it's the earliest flight a bus will get me there. But yeah I don't think I'd want to be paying $399 for an hour's flight. Even for DSC. Thanks for the info though!!!

TBH just remembering the time I did HAVE to catch the 🐦💨 flight (not J class) to make the connection in BNE to get to DRW back in 2021 all the faffing I had to do - catch the bus up to Rocky the arvo before; stay overnight with my daughter; catch an uber to the airport; panic while the flight was delayed due to fog; 💩 myself because the connection in BNE was tight (only one flight to DRW that day I think??) I did make it. Noice plane - the only VA one I've ever been on that had USB slots. Anyhoops, that was the trip that ended up in my infamous quarantining on the way back due to multiple flight changes. It was all an adventure. 😎

I'll re-qualify for WP in couple weeks & renew date is early 2024 so I won't be taking up this DSC offer. Pity it goes out to 31st Dec only.
Gifted wife WP as flew plenty last year with help of past DSC offer.
I'll wait for 2024 DSC offer.

In 2019, I booked SYD-MEL-AKL-RAR in J for $1500 (dubbed the "RAR run") and scored 950 SC in a single RTT. Plus got to chill in RAR for 48 hours.

I notice VA don't service this route anymore, any other offers like this in 2023?

Dumb question, more out of curiosity as I'm not too fussed if it doesn't happen.

I booked a Choice flight on July 6. A change of plans (and DSC) meant I changed my flight today to a Business flight departing two weeks from the original flight (but within the travel period) and paid the fare difference. As the original booking was done prior to the promo, but the electronic receipt with the new flight details has today's date, would I still get the DSC?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought it was based on the PNR of the reservation. The PNR was generated outside of the DSC period in this case.

From the T&C:
The promotion is for new Eligible Flights booked and ticketed during the Promotion Period, and changes to existing bookings made prior to the Promotion Period are not eligible.

As @aaa99 mentioned, the PNR was generated outside the promo period, so DSC won't be applied.

If you have an existing booking, the best option (in case of VA) is to cancel and take credit into the Travel Bank, then use the credit from the Travel Bank to make a new booking, which will give a new PNR that is generated within the promo period.

Welp looks like I need another Business flight to maintain Gold then. Thanks @AIRwin and @aaa99 :)

Wouldn't this have cost $80 though? The flight was only about $110 or something on the lower end of the scale

Where are all the amazing DSC itineraries?
I thought I remembered when Qantas did their DSC offer a few months back people were posting the best value Status/$ routes they could find. There doesn't seem to be a lot of that happening.

Less interest as Virgin status is easier to get?

BNE is my nearest airport if anyone wants to blow my mind with the deal of the century.

Or is everyone waiting till happy hour sale this afternoon?

I like MEL-BNE-CNS return in J.
$1500 for 640 SC's, $2.34 per SC.

I need 175 SC to obtain Platinum. Ive never done a status run so pending the cost, im considering if its worth it.

Anyony have a suggestion for the cheapest status run to hit this? Dept from SYD

Just booked GLT-BNE-MEL return on a business ticket for $1330 and 540 SC's. Works out at $2.46/SC. Hint: If you've got an ABN, go through business flyer for 6% off your business class ticket 😉
