Velocity Double Status Credits July/August 2023

I beg to differ, the PNR is still dated within the DSC offer & the flights taken with DSC offer window.
So I'd think the DCS will post.
Agreed, I changed a booking last DSC offer and the original PNR remained, new ticket number but the booking remained single SC only. You would need to cancel, credit to travel bank and create a complete new booking. They cant have it both ways.

A trivial question related to the VFF membership year. My 'Review date' is on 27/12. If I fly on 28/12 - 31/12, do those flights count to the next year's SC tally? I have already requalified to keep my status but this could be a handy way to help with requalification for the following year.

Very handy you have a Q4 year ending status & can take advantage of the DSC offer, many can't me included.

Yes, so long as both accounts have been registered then both will get DSC and the pooling will transfer their SC’s to you (and points if you’ve opted for both to transfer)
So the person who has all their points "pooled" to another has to register as well for the promotion? Can someone confirm please?

Firstly they need to be pooling SC as well as points.

With that any SC they earn are pooled across.

For them to earn Double SC they need to be registered and fly in compliance with the promotion.

Does anyone have experience with booking through Virgin business flyer in regards to DSC? I activated the offer on my velocity page then booked through the portal and just wanted some peace of mind regarding being credited with DSCs.

No reason that it won’t work, as it’s worked for me in all previous VA DSC promotions utilizing the same method.

Your VA FF number is attached to your passenger details in BF and you’ve registered your VA FF number in the promo

Now that the this DSC booking period has ended, I want to question the continued practice of airlines offering the benefit and of frequent flyers constructing complex multi-city itineraries to get the requires Status Credits qualify for the highest levels of benefits offered.

I have travelled all my career for work – twice a month, long haul overseas for years – and will continue to enjoy flying away on holidays as often as I can afford it but, flying on 6 or more segment itineraries on multiple airlines just to qualify for several top-level FF cards has serious implications for the planet.

I do not want to get political but airline emissions do have a significant impact on carbon in the atmosphere. I want to be able to continue to visit the Australian bush, the Californian redwood forests, or the Islands of Greece without being impacted by fires. I still want to see the snow in the Alps or visit the glaciers in Alaska without them melting away. Even Beijing and Italy have been badly affected by flooding this year. Not to mention the heatwaves throughout most of the northern hemisphere.

Some will maintain this is just the normal cycle of the climate but, maybe we should be prepared to just maintain one FF membership rather than taking Status Runs just to keep multiple airline and hotel memberships active.

What do you think?

so ok for you to fly anywhere in the world you desire, but others can't cos they're polluting the planet, but you certainly aren't.

classic.

I think you misunderstand me. I'm saying that people should still be able to fly for business or holidays. It's just unnecessary multi stop flights for no purpose other than gaining status that I contend should be carefully considered.

I suppose it's fair to say that the flights will always be running whether status credit runners are on board or not though? Or are you saying tha you want to cut the number of schedules dramatically? The airlines could do that anyhow if they wanted to help the planet. I guess each should just do what there own consciousness directs...for me business trips for many seem to happen for a few hours when oftencan be done over a video link.

All those flights in long haul premium cabins your post history/status indicates you do (still PPS Solitaire?) indicates to me a strong level of hypocrisy.

I guess the fact you flew to Europe in SQ Suites doesn't do anything bad for the environment because, well, you took a direct route? Bizarre.

Did you take that cruise in the Mediterranean this year? If so, I've got some bad news for your environmental credentials...

I must have struck a cord for you to have taken the time to research all my previous posts. I'm only talking about considering status runs. I do agree, though, that airlines have a responsibility with scheduling.

You do realise of course without the DSC people have to fly more to get the same points. And the status run usually meant the person fly less and pay less to get the same points.

or if the intent is to question or shame the people who do certain things which appears for no other purpose other than to maintain status, then perhaps you should also consider these same people had done some calculation that makes it worthwhile to maintain their tier or gain a higher one, probably for a higher point per miles bonus etc, hence it might be more polite to assume there is some tangible reason to do those status run.

More carbon is probably burnt for social media dribble or so called “connecting” with other people so maybe try worrying about that instead

i suspect more fuel also are burnt by people going for a drive in the country for no other reason other than because they can and they like to travel.

Interestingly in Europe, quite a number of flights for real short haul are being replaced by train (with an airline flight number) and in France I believe theya re going to ban all domestics ..I'm sure I read that.
