To be fair the T&Cs say WOAG fliers only.

But what airlines actually do and T&Cs are often worlds apart :p

Hi all. Long time reader, first time poster. My Status Match request was also rejected. :( Even though I work for the Feds, my department doesn't use the WOAG. It's in the T&C's so fair enough, though I'm still disappointed. It's VA's loss as about 60-70% of my travel is personal & self-funded so I'll keep plugging away for lifetime SG with QF (despite the changes). At least you get to keep that status once earned - at least until they change the T&Cs.

Thanks for posting, application now submitted. This will be the perfect way to exit from the QFF program. Worst case scenario will be to salary sacrifice QP membership once I drop down and my current on hold membership expires. The recent changes have destroyed any remaining loyalty.

Success! :D Now double Platinum - Are Velocity Platinums referred to as WPs as well?

Thank you OZDemon for the heads up on this.

I believe so, have my VA status reflected as WP too. My WP for both QF and VA are BIS status lol so no matching here. Even if i wanted to match, my edu.au email wouldn't cut it.

Annnnd application denied. They could have at least deleted the "Madam" I might follow up with an email suggesting they might want to extend the offer to whole of Australia

Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for your interest in the Status Match promotion. Unfortunately this promotion is only valid for Federal Government organisations that access the Whole of Australian Government arrangements.

If you have any further questions, we are more than happy to assist.

+1! I emailed them yesterday and got my reply but I checked my velocity account this morning and BAM I'm Gold. Quick turn around!!

Virgin's status match offer isn't new or all its cracked up to be.
Now retired from the PS and doing much less travelling I am Lifetime Silver with Qantas as compensation for no longer qualifying as Platinum. Virgin's status match was initially limited to 12 months, then extended for a further 12 after a lengthy exchange between us. Now about to be withdrawn completely.

Status matches are designed to give you the benefit of status while you earn on the airline to attain that status, they are not an ongoing attempt to match status with another program that you prefer to fly with , which of course defeats the intended purpose of the exercise from the vendor.

Umm, did you really expect they would give you silver status forever despite not actually flying with them?
