Velocity Gold Privileges flying Delta - Experiences?

Bumping with some notes from a recent trip:
- "Sky Priority" was consistently printed on my boarding passes, so I was able to use the express security lanes where offered.
- priority baggage tags were also attached every time (did not have to ask), and the baggage handlers actually seemed to take notice of them, bags came out early every time.
- no problems with Skyclub access at LAX, DFW or ORD. LAX Skyclub is clearly a temporary setup due to the terminal move but they were all nice enough.
- at the MSP Skyclub I was told I was only eligible for access if also flying a VA flight on the same day. I'm fairly certain this is not correct. Would have argued the point but I did actually have a VA flight on a separate ticket, so it was easier to just show them that instead.
- priority boarding was also available every time (after the First Class pax), useful as those overhead bins fill up pretty quickly on domestic flights in the USA. Only problem was the crowd of pax around the boarding area waiting for their zone to be called, just had to politely push my way through to actually get to the jetbridge.
- complimentary upgrades to C+ were easy and available on every flight, just check in (via the Delta app) early to be at the top of the upgrade list.

defiantely wrong info given to you from the MSP lounge,
I went thru there in April and had no questions asked, even without a VA flight on the day ;)

Same for me at MSP last month ... in fact I visited two Lounges.

Does anyone know if the Same Day Change fees are waived as Velocity Gold? They are waived for Delta Gold Medallion members.

three or four years ago this worked for me, but it took a while on the call centre to get it done and agreed to. YMMV. It helps if your status is already recognised in your booking.

As in changing to earlier flight? Ive done that a few times last year (factored in longer transit for what if) but we were at the airport and I knew there were (J) seats available and asked at check-in.

Overall, Ive found Delta pretty good at changes, moving you to earlier frees up seats for next flight ect and they want to move people.

Online, if offered then yes. If a human gets involved YMMV.

To do it online, you bring up your booking, select "Checkin" and then (& only then,) select "Change Flights"; some options may be offered FoC.

Hi,

Travelling DL in August as SG and have been trying to find out how to register for wait list to comfort + upgrade.

Have emailed DL with no response. When checking flights on DL website, shows a not eligible message however VA website does not indicate any restriction to upgrade based on fare type.

Have read somewhere to request at T-24 however will be in transit with wife from AUS and would prefer to not try and arrange upon arrival at LAX.

Appreciate any feedback

Did you become gold after creating the reservation?

Was SG at the of booking

DL site reflects booking as Sky priority with our VA FF numbers

I believe you can't register for the C+ upgrade until you are in the time period.

...

Scratch that, a recent post up thread indicates it is as simple as selecting from available C+ seat at online check in.

An interesting thing about Delta is that you don't get lounge access (anyone, I believe) if you're flying to the Caribbeans. As strange as it sounds, I was en route to Nassau, The Bahamas this Feb via ATL and rolled up to the lounge at ATL being sure it will all be alright (as it was at LAX and on my way back at ATL before the flight to LAX). To my surprise, they showed me a note saying the lounge cannot be used if your destination is in the Caribbeans. Go figure...

I've never heard of that condition...
Nor have I!

I suggest the is a case of another confused SkyClub staff member!

Looking at: Access & Policies : Delta Air Lines , there is no 'Carribean' caveat.

There is for other partners:

I would be taking it up with Velocity customer service.

Have managed to take advantage of the “lack of knowledge at the DL Skyclub” before, was booked on a DL flight number operated by Westjet and managed to get in the Skyclub no questions asked, even though it should only be for DL operated and regional partners, not codeshares.
