So I've searched for threads on this, as I know it's been asked before, so bear with me - I thought I understood the Velocity status thing, but apparently not.

I made plat in the Switcheroo thing, finalised last January, with review date set as 24 January 2024.

Very pleased today to pass 1200 SCs, so that's squared away. But when I checked my account I find

Looks like they've started me off again, with review date still 24 Jan. All the SCs to earn, but 6 months to do it.

How will this work, please?

I will be honest - I never understood the VA rotational-circular-rolling-status thingy ... What's wrong with the anniversary model that QF uses ... at least it is clear cut .. IMO ...

Point Hacks indicates that the above'new' review date is an error.

Once you have achieved status, you then have 12 months from that day to maintain your status or move up to the next level. Every time you reach a new tier, the 12-month counter resets.

I should have probably waited till overnight ( but I'm killing time here in MEL)

Did you get status matched from Qantas Platinum to Velocity Platinum in January 2023? it shows you have earned only 784 SC's since becoming Platinum with Velocity, with 16 more SC's need to maintain platinum beyond January 2024. If you get the 16 SC's before January 2024, your Velocity Platinum will be extended until January 2025.

No it shows 784 SCs required to maintain plat. In fact since I got status matched in January 2023 I've earned 1216 SCs, passing 1200 today. Up until today it had the correct count, out of 1200. Edit - this is incorrect - see below

It should say review in July 2024.

If it doesn't reset overnight I guess I'll email the plat team.

You are reading that wrong I believe. My review date is 28 Feb, with the next being in 2024, I have earned 566 SC's since 28 February 2023 and mine says '566 of 800 Status Credits to maintain'. The plane on my circle is about 3/4 to the dot at 12pm, while the plane on your circle is nearly at the dot at 12pm.

Yes, apologies - you are right in the '(You have earned) 784 out of 800 SC to maintain' interpretation.

I think I've figured it out - I've managed to compound a couple of errors and mis apprehensions 🤦‍♂️. First one is that I needed 1200 SCs to requal - I was thinking of Qantas .

In short - the circle in my OP is correct. Adding them up, I've earned 784 SCs since the status match, just short of the 800  needed to requal. Since I re-activated my Velocity account last August, I've earned 1215 SCs which is the headline number they display.

Ahem.

In my defence, I can say I've never experienced requalifying for any status by incremental domestic flying before, VA or QF - its always been in one hit, during a DONE4. :)

Anyway, trip in a fortnight should take care of things.

Yes, you've got it. They are two separate but related counters. Your balance is a rolling 12 month total of status credits earned (later this year, you'll start to see this dropping as those earliest flights drop out of the 12 month window), while your "maintain status" counter is only credits earned since your January review date.

I agree it's confusing.

If anything the counter for upgrading status is potentially more confusing again than the maintain one. At least the maintain one is always "earn X SCs and fly Y sectors by DATE", and doesn't change during your review period; the upgrade one can only show how many SCs you would need if you earned them all today (i.e., it doesn't obviously show you when the SCs and sectors in your balance will expire).

Personally I prefer the rolling system over the QF way as it works better for me, but both have their pros and cons and it really depends on your travel patterns as to what's going to work better for you.

And to help VA newbies ( and maybe numpties 🙂) like me, a few additional words world help

Add to the circle You have already flown ...

And add the same to the RH box.

There is a table on the website that will give you an idea on how they will fall off. If you go to My Velocity, then the status tab. If you have a section on Upgrading to the next status, there is a link that says 'How far are you from upgrading'. This will give a table showing the Status Credits you need to earn by particular dates.

Sort of related.....How long are accounts typically under review? My review date was end of June, I'm positive I've requalified for gold but still under review.

Thanks all

I think a couple of weeks is not uncommon and if so, a bit more wouldn't surprise.

I can't see this table, maybe because I am red so don't have a re qualification date?

OK, I'm back.

Since my last blind stab into the dark, I achieved more than the 800 SCs and 8/8 flights required to requal on 20 July , having first being made Plat in Jan 2023.

This is what the app (and website) says - review date 22 Jan 2024.

That's not right is it? My (status) 'review date' should be a year from the date of getting 800SCs and 8/8 sectors, shouldn't it?

Or maybe this is another case of a 2-week or so delay for a 'review period' ?
