VH-EBV layout?

Yes it is clear that at present (in both the new and ex-Emirates format) that DJ has an advantage on those routes.
QF only matches when it switches its 747s or International 330s onto those services.

However, Borghetti has said the A330 might also be used for other destinations (eg Asia), so is this really DJ/VAs long term solution.
They may well have plans for more A330 with a 36 J config.
So does QF need to match.

On the two flights I have been on they have struggled to fill half the 24J cabin, so may as well keep on plugging with a superior product to try and grow loads.

Anyhow, will be interesting to see what EBV comes in.

That is not the point.

If we are talking 330 cabins (more specifically Domestic 330 cabins), why not include each product considering that they account for close to half of the fleet for each airline.
Ok, let's refer to cabin layout - the seat pitch on any DJ 332 pwns that of the domestic QF 332's.

Useful to avoid having your laptop catapulted across your lap by an aggressive recline.

... and where Skybeds are available, the QF soft product is still generally not as good.

Anyhoo, it will be interesting to see if QF have stuck with the 2x3x2 physical layout.

Yet the QF cabin is full. Clearly QFF points are gold to members!

That's the main reason I fly with QF. I'm effectively locked in and will probably remain so until DJ join a proper alliance instead of their current mickey mouse arrangement. Most of my SC's are earned on Int these days and that just makes it too hard to fly with DJ.

42J would be a major disappointment, considering the feedback as to that layout.

I wonder if they had obligations as to why they continued with the 2-3-2, or they have just decided for the sake of it.

Given the apparent lead times on some seating they may well have been committed!

If it does come as 42J, at least it will have blocked centre seats from the get go.

The only indicator is D/F seats ... maybe there's no physical E seat in this one, table or otherwise.

I'm still trying to get over it's the same the same seat pitch as Jetstar!

How we are spoilt in this day and age.

20 years ago 38 inches was a figure that was bandied around as the seat pitch for international long haul business class.
In fact there is a QF handbook from 91? that shows you the product...

I'm still trying to get over it's the same the same seat pitch as Jetstar!

Which is the same seat pitch as the J seats in the QF domestic fleet (excluding the 763s with 25 Dreamtime seats) and the J seats in DJ's 737s.

It's by design.

The original Jetstar A330s were from the domestic fleet......

It is possibly more correct to sat that jetstars pitch is the same as Qantas domestic.

Not quite, in the case of DJ. Their 737 J seats are at 38" pitch. As the E190s are refitted to have a J class cabin, they will also have a 38" pitch (one row of seats is being removed to achieve this).

An interesting fact is that prior to the business class refit, Virgin Blue 73Hs had better legroom throughout than QF 73Hs.

The bottom line is, is it acceptable to charge up to $4000 return for seat pitch of 37' in todays environment. Not worried about last decade etc. Non wonder the 747 service was packed when I flew it couple of weeks ago. That shows that maybe QF acknowledge the issue. But as someone said they're slave to the points so QF get away with it. It really is sub-standard. Also compare it to SQ regional product (5 hours Per-Sin). Chalk and cheese..

Unfortunately for QF I say no and will fly DJ A330 coast to coast. My personal opinion.

Leave the sq config out, QF offer skybed on the same route. A more accurate comparison would be a trans con in the us or a regional cx config as such.

OK - CX regional 45' of pitch.

2+2+2

Edit to say I flew CX to HK from Per and it was the new business class seat not regional. Wonderful!

Tweet from AusBT
AusBT... Qantas to make 'announcement about domestic services' & unveil newest Airbus 330 (flying in from France) at presser this Sunday morning

Interesting.
Do normal aircraft deliveries have a media conference?

Or is the rumour re 319s for QantasLink correct?

Fools! (if this is accurate).

I am not sure QF have much of a choice, new aircraft have very restricted seat combinations for certification purposes, introducing a new option for the 1 aircraft into a fleet would not make economic sense, when they all can be changed in 5 years time as part of the campaign to breathe life into older bodies, given the trend across all the refurbs of late, I am guessing there will be less toilets as well!

I am aware of the lack of choice, however was there any reason why QF changed from the Silverwing seats to the Recaro seats (EBM/N and EBO/P). There wasn't much time in between those aircraft arriving.
