Another 99 point Luca Maroni?!?🍷😋🤔🤥
Sorry VM but the below rebuttal of LM scores reveals they are a sham & a scam & shouldn't be used by any self-respecting outlet

His scoring system implies a Parkeresque type scale but bears no resemblance other than an implied 100 point scale
Consistency + Balance + Integrity each scored out of 33
Because no wine is 100 perfect 🤪

And he sells certificates for his reviews🤑
Can't get more objective than that!

Holy hell...comes across as a complete wanker too. "Ignore everything industry standard and sniff the perfume of my egotistical bunghole!"

Yup, any time I see his 99 pointers, I know that they are plush, lush, lacking in tannin or structure crowd pleasers which are anathema to my palate. So from that point of view, I find his reviews helpful, especially with this particular wine. I love Sicilian wines but this sounds like a "not as we know it Jim" type wine

I think it highlights Vinomofos credentials as a respected wine resource.
They are at the end of the day a marketing company and shouldn't be relied upon for any wine expertise. In the same was that Dominos is a tech company definitely not pizza experts.

Just cracked open the last bottle of 3 cases of the 2013 Canobolas-Smith Cabernets offered up at VM last year. My buy of the year. It's probably just a re-badged Alchemy. Hopefully another edition offered this year.

Funny you mention that, I had one last night and found it just ok. Definitely got the age statement though (as opposed to some other VM wines purpoted to be 2012/2013).

Shiraz 2017 – BIG WINE Deal #44584 according to VM Uncovered is: 2017 Monterra Farmilo Shiraz. I know there's been a bit of discussion previously about Monterra's offerings (and the patchy 2017 vintage), just wondered if any of the punters had an opinion as it is "selling crazy fast"

A bit late, but I cracked a bottle of the 2020 Monterra Elevage shiraz tempranillo over the weekend. One of the mystery wines on winestar. Dry and tannic - opened up after hanging out in the glass for a while. Needs a bit of age. Pretty drinkable, but not going to rush out for another case.

The Bull Trader 2014 is on sale again at $15, really enjoyed it for its price Shiraz 2014 - CLICK FRENZY Deal #42249 I don't suppose there are any codes floating around at the moment? (876vgh has stopped working)....

It seems to be still working. But maybe you have already used it, as it seems to be a single per account use type. 😎

There was a question regarding affiliate links and if they are permitted.

AFF regards affiliate links (embedded in a product link) as referrals as there is a benefit for clicking on it. Accordingly they may only be posted in the referral sub-fora with an explanation of what benefit the referrer and referree receive.

The links and subsequent discussion has now been removed.

Thanks.

Thanks, Jessica!
I wondered, because when someone makes a recommendation and they receive a commission on any sales, the opinion may not be objective, especially if the link is undeclared.

I value the combined expertise of this forum very highly on matters of wine. I only have so much money to spend, time to drink, and brain cells to kill; I'd prefer all three go in the best possible way!

It seems that in this case the link was inadvertent. It's always worth looking at any links being pasted in with a view toward removing any cruft. Often found after a hash or query symbol.
