Anyone have any thoughts on the 2005 Hobbs Shiraz?

I had the 2003 with 15.8% alcohol last Xmas.
Didn't notice the high alcohol and it's a nice drop but would not purchase again at the rrp of over $100.
I had it for a princely sum of only $24ea and bought a case. ;)
That's due to the after-effects of the GFC, not such a good investment for the original investor. :)

I've noticed that they seem to heavily favour reds over whites... I'm certainly not complaining, I loooooooove the case of Amelia Park cab merlot I received a couple of weeks ago.

Now that my red cellar is well stocked (until the Maverick Twins make another appearance on the site!) I'm interested in nabbing some good whites, but I need a little help from my fellow aff'ers.

I have quite a 'young' palette when it comes to whites, and have been favouring late harvest rieslings and chardonnays. Over time I'm finding more tolerance/enjoyment for the drier normal versions, but I'm not quite ready to buy a whole case of something without a bit of a better idea if it's one I might enjoy.

What I think I'm after are smooth, easy drinking, off-dry whites that have some sweetness or at least minimal bite. Key descriptors that turn me off are 'mouth watering' and ones that list predominantly sour notes.

So if you have similar tastes and see a bargain that fits the bill, please do let me know!

Glad you enjoy the great wines VM offer. Could you put down some adjectives and describe for us the 2012 amelia cab merlot that you had.....cheers.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned but does anyone know the identity of the 2013 mclaren vale Shiraz for $9.90?

Glad to see they are getting it right, more Red Wine Bigots!

Off the top of my head i can't recall. But it would help if you provided more information as vinomofo has deals every day. So the URL is good or at least the description of the wine so everyone know exactly which wine you are referring to.

Sorry here is the URL

mof_ SECRET Deal Shiraz 2013 - Red Wine

I don't think this was revealed here.
Due to lack of details from VM and winery I think (not confirmed) that it's Vinrock Bayliss Road Shiraz.
5 stars winery, $20, Vinrock GSM still available on VM.

Gots to be rosemount gsm 2013 as a BM- can't say i've tried it, but the 2012 cleaned up, and the 2013 must be good, albeit not as much as the 12. I will compare this to the maverick this wekend.

Thanks Jasonking

I was thinking it may be that but could not locate a Halliday rating. Anyone tried this wine and have an opinion? More of a McLaren Vale Cabernet fan but am looking for a bargain quaffer.

Latest email from Vinomofo lists mof_ SECRET DEAL GSM 2013 for $19.90, down from $45 and says this is a new listing. Described as:

"A list of accolades, awards, points and medals as long as this has us wondering, is this Australia’s best GSM? After its wine show dominance we had to find out for ourselves and we’re happy to report mof_s, the bottle is empty and yes, it’s brilliant.

A certified darling of the wine show circuit racking up more bling than Mayweather, this could very well be Australia’s greatest grenache blend. The recognition this wine has already received speaks for itself but as always, we like to try for ourselves and throw in our two cents...

It's sensational!

Both the nose and palate are full of bright cherries, deep red plums, spice and finally balanced oak. It seems McLaren Vale is owning this blend in Australia with this wine doing both the region and this classic blend justice.

We’d love to tell you more about this incredible wine but the truth is, we’d rather be drinking it than talking about it so grab a glass and join us as we celebrate this great Australian GSM."

But wasn't this on before? It's the Rosemount Estate Grenache Shiraz Mataro 2013 isn't it?

Stefani View Chardy has got my attention. Listed as $45 rrp from producer, it is actually $60. Anyone tried this wine?

Just have this for lunch. A very splendid wine, not very rich, could continue to finish bottle in one session, but better not. ;)
For those who bought you will be surprised. Dr Ralph see whether you agree when yours arrive.
It's on special all over, free from DM when purchase $170.

My purchase of this from DM last week was a click and collect. So I have it already. Plus I have some from the January 2015 Vinomofo offer when it was sold for $50. Unfortunately I wont be tasting it for at least another 5 years.

For me I will try a bottle of any purchase and decide to buy more, cellar, drink often until finish etc.
