I can confirm that I did receive the Patrick Estate Riesling from a BM 'Fo purchase - however I'm only 99.5% sure it was this exact deal!
It does all match though.

Jumped on the Giant Squid Ink with a mate for 3 bottles each. Credits brought the price down to $25 a bottle!
Too many dozens in the cellar right now, need more friends for splitting all these deals.

PDiddy is in the house! I haven't had the particular Tomich that's on current offer, but the Tomich Reserve 2012 771 is a very nice PN (another Fo purchase from the same vineyard). I gave it a 3.5 Vivino score (that's pretty good by my tough scoring system). If I had not spent on all the crazy wines I had recently, I would have been at the front of the queue shoving you mof_s out of the way so I had another good (well priced) Pinot to drink during the week.

I didn't enjoy it as much as the 2012, but still very nice. I'll give it another year and try again

Eddystone 2012 was even better, think Huon Hooke had it in his top 25 reds of 2012.....and it was only $16 a bottle at Kemenys! I bought a case of both the 2012 and 2013.

beefarmer, I know exactly where you are coming from and you are 100% correct. Even though I'm sharing I really look forward to those 2 cases arriving. Less is more as far as I'm concerned. Would much sooner drink 3 bottles of 4 different wines than 12 of the same. I even have my barber buy wine from me at a good price. Plus P&H of course. If it's good enough for Danoz it's good enough for me.

. those vm boys know this wine buying is very addictive don't they......that's why the six mixed cases appeal greatly..

Tried the Haselgrove Batch 87 last night. Smooth but very fruity and sweet - needs a lot of cellaring time to gain some complexity - You would be a lot better off buying the Glenlofty or Fox and Hounds. My partner, however, loved it.

I concur - a huge fruit bomb at the moment, however no hint of sharpness so hopefully will develop with time. Just not sure whether I want to commit the cellar space especially considering the other options available from VM. Unlike Director, my wife didn't like it, unfortunately, so I've got fewer options

thoughts on the various VINOMOFO wine clubs? who here are members? is it all filler no killer? happy/bad opinions?

The Original Club has better wines than The Cube (fairly logical considering the price gap).

In both cases, they have had a mix of good and bad wines. Personally I think the Original Club cases are mostly good. I have tried a few labels I wouldn't have otherwise bothered with and the wine has generally been of a good standard. Every now and then there is a dud, but they can be put aside and cooked.

Both clubs get you free shipping on everything which is handy if you buy a reasonable number of other deals.

cheers i may join up and see whats what, i won't lie i've bought a couple of the salvation cases and have been pleasantly surprised, like you said a lot of more obscure brands/ blends i'd never normally buy in a bottle shop but all have been good solid drinking wines.

Just got my first VM white in over 12 months as its a really good wine (usually buy semillon but this riesling is worth it) mof_ SECRET Deal Riesling 2012 - White Wine If you stood on the "cliff edge" in 2012 and looked out over the grampians this one stood above the pack and has ageability JH says till 2022 and "its best years are before it"

After leaving it overnight, some of the fruit overload has faded, but still noticeable. A more bearable taste now. This might benefit from more cellaring

Yes, I personally was not a fan, but my opinion has probably been tainted by the absolute rubbish they released in 2011. A classic example of an on-label release which should have been a clean-skin or second label (especially considering the prices they got).

Sadly, Mr Beefarmer, sir, I am all monied out for this month after some serious fine wine purchases over the last 2 weeks (I have some absolute gems). I loved the 2012 Tomich Reserve Pinot Noir, and suspect this latest PN offer from The Fo is going to be another good one. Alas, I have 6 of the 2012 to get through, and I am not the world's fastest wine consumer (probably only 2 to 3 bottles a week - plus I am being good as I have one of those life assurance medicals to pass so my wife can sleep easy knowing that if I fall under the proverbial bus, she inherits a small fortune!!).

I had a couple of pinots on the weekend, the adelaidean Riposte from the Fo Pinot pack. Nothing doing on opening, but after a couple of good hours, a fairly good, but basic drop.

Half way thru we got onto the yarra valleyans, Helen and joeys, layla pinot. Stunning is what a few of us thought. A bit unusual in that it had a stack of body, but the dark fruit together with good oak set it off....every drop was really good.
Then we went back and re-tasted the half bot of riposte and it had improved substantially. More fruit character evident, a bit of balance came into it. I see you can buy a case for $11. I look forward to the Tomich coming my way to see how it compares with the I-777. The tomichs have rebranded recently as I had one or two called hilltops from them. that was a beauty as well. I am hoping for three out of three from mr soilworks, randall tomich.

before I forget, one of the ladies on Saturday night used to be involved and owned a yarra valley winery-Hanrahans. Actually it was her fathers and she helped plant a lot of vines. There were several 2010 Shiraz's going and it is a beautiful drop. My mate actually built the barny cellar door at hanrahans years ago and most people won't probably know about the death of the main man and the bitter breakup afterwards. I wont bore you suffice to say that david the carpenter ended up with a lot of beautiful wine.
His wife and the winerys previous owners daughter are best of friends. The lady who now owns the show, ex flight attendant Beverley is one hell of a saleswoman.
