Vinomofo Wine Deals

Wandered into the storage area grumping about the need to "cleanup" the remaining Mitolo in the quaffer rack.
A little later , while prepping my steak , I found my self sipping a St.George.. have I lost control ???

What are you two referring to? I was querying Riesling!

Had a quick search for this Riesling. Always love a mystery. The VM writeup mentions 'It’s no wonder James Halliday gave this producer 5 red stars, a rating reserved for the top 10% of wineries in Australia, and said the wines were ‘extraordinarily good’.'

Looking at winecompanion, Atlas wine seems to be ‘extraordinarily good’ and has 5 red stars. Atlas Wines Wine & Winery | Australian Wine Companion

However, their (dated) website only has the 2013 Watervale Riesling priced at $28 which is a dollar higher. http://www.atlaswines.com.au/PDF/order.pdf

Might be another unlisted Riesling from Atlas?

Atlas was the closest I could find (after my other mistake), but they also sell at full price through Langtons, and not a peep from those guys about a new vintage. If it is Atlas, well, they make good Riesling :)

Hi all,

Just stumbled across this forum whilst researching the 'Think Outside the Circle" 2014 Hilltops Cab Sav from VM.

I've started using VM fairly recently and take advantage of the 95 & 96 point mixed red sixpack deals. I think they're generally very good value allowing me to get cheap, highly rated wines from all over Australia.

Some of the point ratings for the wines are just plain wrong so you have to be a bit careful. They also like rating some of the wines according to some dubious Halliday tasting event when in fact if you look the same wine up in the companion it scores much much lower.

Recently have picked up some very decent stuff

Churchview St Johns Bordeaux blend
The aforementioned Think Outside the Circle
Seppelt Drumbord Pinot
Seppelt Chalambar Shiraz
Bellarmine 2012 Pemberton Shiraz
Paxton 2012 B iodynamic Shiraz
Churchview 2011 Bartondale Cab Sauv

and a few others that genuinely RRP at $55 plus and are indeed officially rated 96 pints by halliday.

I dont have any interest in buying 12 of the same wine so much of the Black Market stuff is out of the question. I only have a 75 bottle wine fridge too and live in Sydney.

I used to use Naked Wines who were very hit and miss and became more miss than hit.....

Yes. Shows that good winemakers can also make quite ordinary wines.

Good point made.......which then encompasses the whole nature versus nurture idea. A bit like the shiraz projects near McLaren vale where the grapes are the same but the result not. Kangarolla road scarce earth was a six shiraz pack purchase from the fo....at the end of the day, if its good, then its drinkable.
