Jack has plums blackberries and pepper and a luxurious touch of vanillin. The oak is the kicker for me. A well made wine.

Is this the Hungerford Hill drop that people raved about before?

At this stage, the Hungerford has more finesse, is definitely more subtle and probably the easier of the two to drink. However, the Jack has more upfront plum and cherry characters and certainly has more body. It's a close call, but HH in a narrow win as it is more integrated at the moment.speaking of the hungerford, seems halfway through the year, 2 of the most liked bargain shiraz have been the hungerford and the more recent Jack estate. for those who have had both, which did you prefer?

The 2013 was a stunning, if slightly confusing wine. I described it as being one of the nicest Pinots I've ever tasted, despite being a shiraz. A really beautiful wine once you set aside your preconceptions about how a Shiraz should taste.
Any idea what today's 96 point 2012 Yarra Cab Sauv is? I'm a bit underweight CS at the moment ..
Jabba, And yes it is. Being the impatient(i want it all and i want it now, or was that yesterday...)person i am ,ripped open the case on day of arrival, yes i know a waste of the first bottle, well!!!!weirdest aroma ...juicyfruit chewing gum! Ok, left for half an hour or so, now fermenting strawberries..after an hour or so settled to quite a light strawberry shiraz, not detecting the cab sav yet. Maybe a very interesting wine if left for awhile. The jury is out, but i'm willing to bet it's going to be a keeper.Should be Erin Eyes Celtic Heritage Cab Shiraz.
Thanks - Any good?
Well, someone gave it 96/100, so I guess they thought it was good. What are your thoughts on this wine?
As it it sure to pop up again, how do you rate it from 1 to 10 in terms of body?Just received the contraband Coonawarra cab sav, confirming it is the Jack Estate. Classic Coonawarra, with typical blackcurrant up front.
At $9.90 it's a bargain, and drinking well now (just a bit green). A fair bit of acid and tannin should settle down in the cellar
