Total about $300 worth of wine bought for $99 (include delivery). Even the cheapest bottle (Juniper Shiraz) is a decent quaffer so I'm quite happy with the mix.

I opened a bottle last night and thought it was pretty average. I thought it approved over an hour or so .... but having another glass tonight, I think I agree with sagittariusdrake. Underwhelming indeed.

Now I'm certainly not advocating the merits of these guys, and understand that they are in the business of selling, but Nick's Wine Merchant appears to believe that the best may still be to come:

I'm in two minds, but, I think I'll send this back. But do you think there is any potential for this wine to improve? I haven't had to use the returns policy yet ... and I am reluctant to lose the free shipping that I got on my other two packs.

If you're underwhelmed then send it back - it's not going to do much more from this point you'd think. Judging by the score, Nicks didn't think a lot either. Take the hit on the $9 and put it down as balancing out the free bottle sampler

From Campbell Mattison of Wine Front: Steve Wiblin’s Erin Eyes Celtic Heritage Cabernet Shiraz – Solid red with gum leaf and blackberry flavours building good depth of flavours through the length of the palate. Tannin is well massaged into the fruit the finish has a pleasant savoury twist.
And Huon Hooke: 2014 Erin Eyes 'Celtic Heritage' Cabernet Shiraz
And then after it arrived;
Being the impatient(i want it all and i want it now, or was that yesterday...)person i am ,ripped open the case on day of arrival, yes i know a waste of the first bottle,well!!!!weirdest aroma ...juicyfruit chewing gum! Ok, left for half an hour or so, now fermenting strawberries..after an hour or so settled to quite a light strawberry shiraz, not detecting the cab sav yet. Maybe a very interesting wine if left for awhile. The jury is out, but i'm willing to bet it's going to be a keeper.
It's still young, and I loved the Erin Eyes Malbec, so hopefully it will mature into a very nice wine. Still drinkable now, but I'm no expert, i only try to please my sweet man and myself, and we weren't displeased.
 
Re: Star Lane Sangiovese, just some food for thought. Are you all familiar with the varietal? It is a classic Italian lower alcohol light to medium bodied red, that typically is all upfront, a bit on the side palate, and disappears into a nothing finish. This is what the varietal does, it is a wine made to eat with food and typically it is a wine not to over think too much. This is what a Toscano 'Chianti Classico' usually does.

I know the Fo's return policy is very generous and there to be used, but at some point responsibility from the purchaser needs to be taken, especially if the varietal is made to its typical potential.

I just don't get this one. We drink Coriole Sangiovese and Italian Chianti's alot - Star Lane just isn't right for the varietal IMHO. Something amiss.
 
I'd say it's on the medium side of full, so I guess a 7 for body. I also picked up the Pertaringa over the top Shiraz... so anything will seem lighter bodied in comparison.
 
The Star lane sanga is 14.2%, which is on the high side for the varietal. As I mentioned, we quite enjoyed it, but I don't drink this grape much so can't offer any expert view.

My bottle assigned numero 230 will be subject to audit tonight. 231 to 235 are anxiously sweating it out waiting to see if the thumb is up or the thumb goes down.

Of interest, my bottles were assigned 0002-0005, 0008 and 0010!
 
Shame they were not shiraz or cabernet as truly I could say first cabs of the rank. Will definitely let you know, but in the back of my mind I remember a Kangarilla Rd Sangiovese that was a stunning wine. I will try to go in as objectively as I can.

Yes, I've had a Kangarilla Road Sangiovese and it was delicious.

The Zin today has to be chuchviews 2014. I am sure the dozen I bought were the 2013's and it is good. Once again, a little different, 7/10 for bod, spicy and peppery but good. The whole st johns is supurb quality imho.

"The Italians call it primitivo, the Californians call it zinfandel and we call it awesome! A towering red wine, the last vintage flew off the shelves and this 2014 release is set to be a massive hit too. Why? Because the vintage in Margs was spot on for making intense, dense and ripe wines just like this ripper. If you’re the kinda mof_ that can handle a ‘burger with the lot’ for breakfast, then this is going to satisfy your appetite."

is likely to be the St Johns Churchview.

All details, other than the alcohol appear to match. Given the ineptitude consistently shown by Vinomofo it's remarkable that they've made just the one mistake in describing the qualities of the wine.

Thanks Dr - have you, or others, any experience with this vintage? I see Beefarmer enjoyed the 2013, but I'm not particularly familiar with the variety

I got the 2011 from vinomofo and was happy with it.
