Vinomofo Wine Deals

The 2015 Maverick Twins GSM just went online @ $11.50

Surely they will have trouble selling it at that price, given the Maverick deals on Cellarmaster in the last week which was around $4 a bottle.

Cellarmasters hardly has a monopoly on this wine. So if they can sell it for that price someone else surely will as well.

You'd be foolish to pay this price when it's likely to be discounted again very soon.

The reality is that this is not a $25 wine as claimed by Vinomofo. Given how frequently it is discounted its real price is around $7 a bottle. There is no need to pay more than this.

I am sure some missed out on the CM deals and (even if they didn't) will buy this wine.

I am keen to hear some first hand reports from AFFers on how it stacks up against previous vintages.

I want some in my collection, but I am going to wait.

That was 2010 and 2013 vintages though, I don't recall seeing the current 2015 vintage anywhere other than VM.

$11.50 is a bargain for the quality seen in previous Twins wines! I'm happy to buy at $11.50, even knowing that if I wait long enough I might find it for less than half that price.

Can't disagree.

I've happily paid $10-11 before for Maverick Twins GSM. The pricing last week was insane, but it's still good value at $11.50.

I won't buy this time around purely because I have far too much quaffing wine at the moment, but I'm sure I'll have some of it soon enough, especially if it's more like the 2012/2013 than the 2014!

Finally opened my twins 2014 and it's being returned unless someone wants to buy it from me at cost (Melbourne Eastern suburbs).

Well the epsilon tempranillo 2015 was and is an absolute standout this year from the fo. Ready to go with years ahead of it.

Sure - you can probably get it for $7 bottle, if you wait long enough.

On the other hand, the hundreds of millions of bottles that Dan Murphys sells each year shows that a significant part of the market simply doesn't care about saving $3 on a bottle of wine. It's not worth their while trawling stores and forums to save a few bucks here or there.

Maybe you've been more savvy than me with buying Maverick, but $7 a bottle as the 'standard' seems quite ambitious. I'm not sure how often you're finding the perfect storm of combining a limited time clearance discount (from $19.99 down to $10) + $100 off coupon + additional amex discount. I did manage to pick up some of the Cab Blend 13 through Winemarket in May for just under $8 / bottle which was the best I had done previously (i'm not including cash rewards which varies), but that was also a clearance rate + 20% discount coupon.

I think you need to have your ear close to the wall to get anywhere near $7 / bottle when the right deal comes along.

A bit naive to call someone foolish for paying $11.50 for the latest vintage, particularly for something that has consistently punched above its weight. Besides an exceptional deal that comes along, the price you can expect to pay is certainly closer to $11.50 than it is to $7 in my experience.

I might have missed it, but does anyone have a review on how the iii Associates stacks up against squid ink?

How did you find the '13 Cab blend Vedder? Just bough a couple of cases and I am only familiar with the GSM blends.

I grabbed the 2013 GSM from Cellarmasters as well as the 2012 Cab Blend and having tried neither what was wrong with the 2014 (is it this "peppery" thing that is mentioned a lot?)?? cheers, W&D

I'd actually rate it above the 13' GSM. If you search on here, I seem to recall it was included in a blind tasting group meet up and faired quite well.

99 Minute Sale just went up (aka stocktake) for those targeted. Prices reduced... apparently! I see the Billich there which I believe was popular. Chalambar 2014 is there for $16.90.

W&D yes, GSM 2014 is super peppery and nothing like previous vintages. Not for me.

I'd say Cab Blend 2013 is more refined than the GSM 2013. Both good.

I just got that email too. Looks like $1 per bottle (at least on the few I remember) so marginally better than free shipping, but nothing that excites me all that much.
