Vinomofo Wine Deals

Anyone know what the Vic 2011 Shiraz is in the Black Market Deal? 95pts and loads of Gold medals. I am thinking maybe the Glenlofty that was for sale a few weeks back?

Yeah I think you're right with the glenlofty. I picked up some a couple months ago. Back then it was only rated 94 pts I recall. Ugliest logo you can find but it drinks really well for the price. Maybe one to bring to the mates house for blind tasting.

I too am on my second case of the Glenlofty Shiraz...it is a stunning wine and ridiculously priced for the money. Never heard of them before, but after a little background check, jump onboard. I have had it with many friends and they all loved it....just check out the guys who made it and you will see they are serious. I often take notes of the folks at the fo who write about the wine, and this one was spot on....as many narratives and descriptions are ! The density and complexity is judicioulsy intertwined making for one of the best shirazes I have had this year.

Secret Deal 2011 WA Shiraz.....any idea what this is? Could it be Cape Mentelle possibly?

Hi, I have been a mof_ member since day one and only registered here to advise I think the only way to receive VIM emails is to subscribe to daily emails. I have found this to be the case, nothing to do with amount purchased

Not from what I can tell - I had daily emails on (now turned off), and my Vinomofo broker told me I have to purchase $1000 worth to be added to it.

Agreed. Daily emails but not a VIM. Not fussed. Plenty of other retailers who want my money.

For me personally, VM has gone downhill a bit. The wines being offered aren't of huge interest to me. They keep rehashing the same wines over and over. I'm so sick of them just trotting out the highest score someone managed to rate the wine, but tell me very little about the wine (tasting notes, not what the wine actually is). Half the times the comments are attributed to someone who is just another customer and written a review. Hardly a palate I'm going to trust.

looks like the the 2012 coonoonwarra VIM deal is now offered to regular customers. Just bought a case.

Yep so did I, $31 per bottle for 2012 St George is a decent buy for sure. After the discussion about how to access VIM deals they have finally put me on the list and were shocked that I wasn't already after seeing my purchase history ;)

Yeah has anyone actually tried the St George yet? Please give us an update once you have. Jeremy Oliver didn't actually rate it as well as Halliday. 91 pts from memory with some comments about the grapes being over-ripe or something.

Btw anyone have thoughts on the 96pts WA Cabernet Sav 2012 ($28 down to $13.90)?

I have certainly tried many previous vintages that have been cellared for sometime and they are always great.

I wouldn't recommend buying this wine to drink now. It's not designed that way. I wouldn't drink for at least 5 years. Mine won't be drunk until well after that.

Note that the back of the bottle says that it cellars for over 10 years. From my experience wine makers are very conservative when they state time frames like this and it's also an indicator that the wine shouldn't be drunk young.

I have ordered a case too and I think the wine will reach its peak after 2020 and I won't touch it before that. :)
