Vinomofo Wine Deals

I bought 36 cases from the Fo this past year, returned two with no issues at all. Not a bad percentage of keepers. I think I worked it out I saved around $5K from paying full retail. Some wines were not quite up to scratch but really those were 70% off Black Market Deals and I usually passed them on to family and friends so no big deal and generally worth it at the 70% discounted price. Overall I am happy with my first year with the Fo, spent too much really but also saved a tremendous amount on what I would of spent otherwise.

I'm in the "spent too much money" category.
I only sent back one case of wine as I received the wrong vintage. Most of the Reds I got were fantastic, notable mention to Mitolo G.A.M. Shiraz and I did seriously like the Atticus Chardonnay. I wish I'd bought more of both of those.
Will be having a bit of a break from buying until the cooler weather returns.

Just checked, 39 cases for me in 2014. 1 return.

Won't be buying as much in 2015...unless there are some bargains!

Although I will be hampered with opportunities to buy with forthcoming trips to Hawaii, the West Indies and coughet in 2015.

That was the 2006 Atticus, right? Stunning wine!

Hi all, first post here. Does anyone know what the two rieslings currently on offer are? The "contraband" and the "black market" ones, that is.

The notes on them from their website are below:

Contraband seizure by mof_ Enforcement Agency. Clare Valley - specific site undisclosed. Shipment of bright, crisp and highly classified Riesling 2013, fully labelled and legally marked. Sourced from a producer who operates under the radar (never-seen-before on the 'Fo) and who shall remain anonymous for their protection. Bound for standard retail market with a street value of $228 per dozen (which according to specialist agent, Halliday, is a "bargain." MEA operative agents have uncovered that this contraband is highly desirable, has been hand crafted by a boutique 5 star producer, was laced with a 92 point rating and “special value” and shows intense florals, notes of orange, spices and distinct flavours of lemons with balanced acidity. It is advised that this is an isolated incident.
The following should be noted about this seizure:

  • 92 points & “Special Value” rating from James Halliday
  • “Clare Rizza gets better with age and this will be on form over the next 8 years." - comment from Contraband Specialist
  • Manufactured by a 5 star producer to remain undisclosed

    AND (the "Black Market"):

You know the wine, you know the producer but you don’t know THIS price. A refreshing and balanced Riesling awarded 94pts, by not by just one, not two but three leading wine critics - if you want to drink in style this summer, make sure you invite one of the best Black Market Rizza deals we've ever had to the party.
Intensely aromatic and seriously complex, this Riesling knows how to walk the walk and talk the talk. Forget accolades, this is downright delicious - the only selling point you need to read. Loaded with fresh green apple, vibrant pear, lime and spice, this is a formidable wine that will just better with age, one with legs that will run that extra mile. One of the best-value SA Rizzas we've had on the 'Fo to date, we dare you to find anything better with this rep, at this price.

the gsm is maverick twins 2012 and it is a stunner...unbelievable value and i bought a couple of cases. One of my top wines of the year. Medium full, a tinge of spice, great fruit character, incredibly moorish.....a great richness to it with a hint of fine acidity around the back of your mouth. As you can tell, i loved it. Hope this helps. I had been looking for a gsm of value for many, many months and i nailed this one. Don't miss out !

Thanks. I bit.

Good chance that the BLACK MARKET Petit Verdot 2010 described as:

" Possibly the funkiest (in the best way) wine we've seen, and we've got it as a Black Market Deal for you. This is premium, boutique (dare we say 'cult') red from WA, labelled and real, at prices that we simply can't show the label to the general riff-raff (that's you). But you do get an amazing deal on this wine, so: apache, jump on it!

What we can tell you:

This is a big, juicy red wine with violets, blackberry, tobacco, delicious (seriously!) pencil shavings and a rich, ripe fruitful palate
It's been produced by a Halliday 5 Red Star producer from Pemberton, WA
According to our buying team, it's one of the coolest wines they've tried in a long time
It's 70% off, when it's already ridiculously good value at full price - be adventurous, you won't regret it!
We can't tell you:

Anything else. Don't even try it, our lips are sealed. Guess away, but you won't find out 'til it's on your doorstep. Oh yeah, and you're welcome."

advertised today for $8.40 is the Bellarmine Petit Verdot.

Damn I missed out, it has now disappeared. Probably lucky as I just put in an order for some fine Tassie Pinot after a few outings to the Taste of Tasmania in the past week. Would like to get hold of some decent GSM for a good price, hopefully it will turn up again. Thanks beefarmer

I have a feeling that single vineyard Black Market for $12 (rrp $40) might be the Mavericks Paraview, but I can't find much info about it on my searches...
