Anyone tried the Art of War "The General" 2014 Shiraz?
Looks like they have had it on their site for some time. With a referral credit and the $30 cashback it doesn't look too bad...

Yes, it's an enjoyable wine that one, especially if you like a more rich & decadent, vanillin oak centric wine. Pretty good value if that's your style.

Yep. It was more subdued than I was expecting when compared to the cheaper Catkins but plenty more complex. Well balanced & should be a cracking wine given a few more years in the cellar. The value proposition of these drop somewhat if you're looking for a short-term drinking option though, plenty drinking better now at cheaper price points.

I got the 2013 GSM through Cellarmasters a while back and it's a pleasant drop, possibly a little lighter on the palate than I was expecting but excellent value and makes a good drink now proposition. The 2015 if it's anything like the Cab Sav from Maverick of the same vintage should be even better, wholeheartedly recommend them plus the vineyard is up for grabs on the market so who knows when (if ever) these wines will come around again....

Wasn't exactly bowled over by the Haselgrove Cul Stor I bought through the 'Fo, wasn't bad or faulty just not as big and profound as the RRP would have suggested, I wasn't convinced that it would improve magically with cellaring so sent them back, this is a very personal business and there were others who have enjoyed their Haselgrove purchases, I probably need to try some of their other offerings such as the Catkin ;)

The Cul Stor 2015 didn't grab me as much as the 2014 did, but luckily some friends in the tasting group took most of it off my hands. The lesser (in quantity) cabernet component seemed to be a bit dominant and the shiraz characters quite subdued, not quite in balance, not sure how it will turn out with cellaring, but not a great drink for me when young.

Your right - I bought some a couple of weeks back - very good indeed. Very crisp, clean & a bit citrusy - go for it. :D Much better than the fiano which is a bit flabby.
 
Just hit buy on the Ara Select Block M36 2013 Pinot. Interesting that they didn't include either the 5 star/95pts from Bob Campbell or the 5 Star/18.5 from Raymond Chan.
 
In answer to BM Sangiovese - Can confirm D'SAS - just tried it off the truck and pretty impressive. Lovely packaging and by retail standards $24-$26 would apply.

Chan rating was for the non reserve - BTW, notice its selling on Oatley website for 30ish so RRP bit loose.
 
Line pricing - have their wholesale list at hand and all priced same(block series) Normal w/sale $30 plus gst but noone pays list so normal wholesale likely to be mid 20 so still a reasonable buy but never 50ish.
