Vinomofo Wine Deals

Are you sure you didn't get the bottles mixed up? :)

I've also had the See Saw recently, and found it to be okay, but nothing more, while I find 2015 Twins Cabernet is just gorgeous, and should only get better. I cracked another bottle just last weekend for the in-laws and they all fell instantly in love with it, preferring it to the '05 Coppermine Rd that was also on offer. But I guess at the end of the day we all have our own preferences. C'est la vie!

Just out of interest, did you decant the twins? I have found that they do need a good long decant to really open up.
Well DB, what an interesting comparison. A bit like la la land and moonlight I guess. Well one thing was certain. Our aussie mel was just warming a seat....this year.

Yep, both botts were as noted and you make a salient point about the decantation enhancing things. It was straight out of the bot and could have resulted in those muted tones.

Now I did have one that was mentioned in passing here a week ago, a noon 2006 eclipse blend I think. great wine indeed. at its retail, it should be as well.

Just boomed 1 x Mav Twins Shiraz 2016 & 1 x Mav Cab Blend 2016, at <$10 delivered can't go wrong compared
to wandering into a bottle shop trying to guestimate something you've never seen or heard of before.

They have identified the CabSav Blend this latest email rec'd today DB, thanks for the heads up on that VM error y'day.

We had a Mav Twins Shiraz 2015 couple of days back with roast lamb (home produced), most enjoyable meal !!

I think I should register Mrs prozac to take advantage of the free shipping. It would be rude not to.
Can anyone suggest any standouts? I have already bought the Black Market deal which I believe is Forest Hill Block 5 Cab. Worked out at $12 after credits and Amex.

Has anyone tasted this new offering of the 2016 CS Blend OR the 2016 Twins Shiraz ?.

Here are my tasting notes for the 2016 Twins Shiraz:

A difficult wine encompassing many conflicting messages. In the glass it looks almost medium-bodied, but in the mouth the fruit are quite powerful and intense. And despite the warmth of the 2016 Barossan vintage, the wine tastes much more like a cool-climate shiraz. The intensity of the dark fruits is such that the wine initially tastes a little sweet, before the strong savoury mid-palate takes firm hold. The oak treatment is quite restrained, marked by smokey cedar notes on the mid-palate, alongside tar, liquorice and toasty malt. The tannins are smooth and fine, leading to an extended finish.

This wine is not as immediately approachable as the 2015 vintage, I think it really needs time to properly develop and mature. An 88 on CT from me.

Unfortunately I only had time for a quick 30 minute decant, so the wine may perform better with some extended air-time.

Edit: Two hours later, the flavours are starting to come together a little more cohesively. The flavour profile is quite reminiscent of the 2013 Hares Chase Ireonscraper, albeit with a greater intensity to the fruit and a corresponding imbalance in the overall flavour profile. I think this could be very good in 5-10 years time.

2 accounts with the same address has proven problematic to some AFFers ;)

I'm stuffed to the gunnl's with wine , but could not let the 2015 Lagrein slip away.
This will be my third box, maybe I like it……

I just bought a Kilakinoon Shiraz 2015 for $13.50. Also on offer is Maverick Twins Shiraz 2016 for $9.90 and Kilakinoon Riesling 2016 for $9.90. I can vouch for the Riesling as I have it. Haven't rec'd the Shiraz yet. Others rave about Maverick Twins previous vintages.

The Maverick portfolio offer excellent value to the astute investor that's for sure! Couldn't locate the Kilakanoon Shiraz on VM, was this recently offered? cheers W&D

I tossed up the Maverick and the Kilikanoon and went with the latter. It was a Black Market Deal - $13.50 from $45. 2015. Doesn't appear to still be on their website, but it is still available if you call.

I found it on the Kilikanoon website, but there's no information about it, so I suspect it was made for VM. If I don't like it, will be returning it.

It must be this if we're talking scant information Shop The Collections I haven't had much experience of the Kilikanoon wines so will be interested to hear any comments once you've tried it.
